No Borders in the Chutes

I photographed this image at the Mesquite Championship Rodeo in Mesquite, Texas, "No Borders in the Chutes" features a Brazilian bull rider now living in Texas as he rides his bull. The focus, tension, and tight space of the bucking chutes tell a story of courage, heritage, and the shared language of rodeo that crosses borders.

With its strong lines, rich textures, and powerful sense of focus, this piece adds authentic, modern Western character to any home, office or Western-inspired space.

Looking back to my great adventure as a Rodeo Photographer. This photo of me sitting on the edge of the arena wall was taken by my younger sister Susan. We were at the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association Finals in 1980. I have my trusty Konica Auto Reflex A with my 50mm 1.8 lens. The OHSRA was such a blessing to be part of and to capture so much history of Rodeo of 1980! Capturing future champions such as Lane Frost, Richard Rule, Jackie Jo Perrin, and so many more.
