Earlier this year I had the opportunity to work with Maggie & her family, and to hear her heroic story. More than that- I was able to give them an hour of time spent together. Intentional time, without worrying about doctors or appointments for a little while. Filled with laughs, smiles, and connection. I’ve said it before: what a GIFT this job is. 🫶🏼
I figured it was best to let Maggie share her story herself, so here’s my post- for her & by her 🫶🏼
In May 2023, my life changed in an instant. A large tumor was found on my left kidney. By September, I had undergone a full nephrectomy and was diagnosed with stage 2A renal cell carcinoma.
For a while, I lived between scans—holding onto hope that the cancer was behind me.
In August 2025, that hope shifted. Masses were found in my lungs and lymph nodes, and a biopsy confirmed it had spread. Metastatic renal cell carcinoma. There is no cure.
I began the most aggressive treatment available—dual immunotherapy—showing up week after week ready to fight. But despite everything, the scans showed the cancer continuing to grow and spread.
Now, I’m preparing for the next line of treatment. The side effects are difficult, and the fatigue has made it hard to work full-time. I am currently working part-time, doing everything to keep going, while facing an uncertain future.
The journey has been incredibly challenging—physically, emotionally, and financially.
If you feel called to support her during this time—whether through a donation, sharing her story, or keeping her in your thoughts and prayers—it would mean more than words can express.
Thank you for helping her continue to fight 🧡
