I’ve captured 23 weddings so far this year and based on what I’ve seen, there are 3 big traditional moments that engaged couples seem ready to leave behind. Wanna know what they are?

1. Cutting the cake. This year, pretty much all my couples requested not making a big deal about this moment, 4 decided to do it privately and 3 just forgot to actually do it. Feeling sorry for bakers I think this tradition is getting moved to the back burner in 2027.
2. No first look. Every year more and more couples decide to skip the “down the aisle moment” and have a private first look together. It works better for scheduling and they actually get to spend the day together. I actually love this one!
3. This is the biggest one: The couple photos. Lots of my couples are opting for a multi-day wedding coverage instead of packing everything the day of. They move their wedding portraits to the day after the wedding, that way they get to spend the day with their guests without having to worry about lighting and timing. This is exactly how my own wedding was and I am so happy this tradition is catching up finally to the US!

Someone said in one of yesterday’s speeches that you simply cannot meet Jamie and not fall in love with her, and I couldn’t agree more. Her energy is contagious, her laugh is the sweetest, and she has that exceptional kind of presence that leaves you wanting more. So it’s no surprise that from the moment Sam met her, he knew she was going to be his person forever.

Yesterday marked my last wedding of this fall stretch: 13 weddings in 11 weeks. My season isn’t quite over yet, but after 11 incredible weeks spent documenting love stories, I finally get a Saturday off next week. And what a beautiful way to close out this chapter.

There was no better way to wrap up these past few months than celebrating Jamie and Sam alongside some of my absolute favorite wedding vendors. They brought so much talent, heart, and care to their day, and they deserve all the love. If you aren’t following them yet, go show them some love! They were such a big part of making Jamie and Sam’s wedding everything it was.
