I knew for sure I wanted to incorporate hydrangeas into my new logo somehow. If you know me, a big part of my story is moving from where I grew up in South Carolina to South Dakota. My husband and I lived in SD for several years right after we got married, but the plan and hope was to move to SC someday. A few years into marriage and an opportunity came about with my parents business and we moved to SC. My oldest was just barely a year old when we built our forever home on a beautiful family acreage. And it really was āthe dreamā. Fast forward a few more years and God providentially called us back to SD for my husband to be a pastor. It was an incredibly hard and tearful process. Truly the hardest thing we had ever had to do up to that point in our marriage. We gave up a long held dream and followed the Lord. In His kindness, He blessed every step of the way even when it felt impossible. Weāve been back in SD for almost four years now and although there are still hard moments of feeling the loss of one dream, God has given us so much peace that we are where weāre supposed to be.
Hydrangeas are my favorite flower. They also happen to thrive in many very different growing zones. They are a staple in hot and humid South Carolinian gardens as well as in cold and dry South Dakotan ones. They could not be more different climates for a hydrangea to grow, but somehow despite that, they do. Hydrangeas hold a special place in my heart; a connection to my southern roots and my new Midwest home. A reminder that if I could thrive in South Carolina, I can also thrive here. ā¤ļø
