Just a handful of favorites from such a sweet full-circle session: A couple of days ago, I got to capture a fresh round of headshots for Iowa Senator Catelin Drey, and I couldn’t help but think back to almost a decade ago when she was the one taking my headshots during my days as a TV news reporter. And now, all these years later, the roles have reversed, and I get to be behind the camera taking hers. It’s pretty special how life brings people back into our paths in different seasons. Always such a joy having this beautiful woman in front of my camera!! ❤️

I feel so honored and thankful to Morningside University for continuing to give me the opportunity to capture such special events! 📸 This was my 4th time capturing Mside’s Welcome Fest, and it continues to be one of my favorite events! I love not only getting to be behind the camera, but also meeting so many new students and parents and reconnecting with familiar Msiders along the way.

And truly, Morningside is the BEST! 🥹Especially in this season of life as a new mom, still adjusting and finding my new rhythm, I’m extra grateful for how supportive, understanding, and wonderful they’ve been to work with. It means more than they know! I’m so thankful to continue capturing these moments and memories for Morningside. And I’ve got LOTS more photos to come very soon 👀📸 !!

Yesterday our baby girl turned 2 months old. 💕 It’s hard to believe that two months have already gone by since we welcomed her on April 1st. She has brought so much love, joy, and sweetness into our lives, and we’re soaking up every smile, snuggle, and little milestone. Time is flying by, and we already wish we could slow it down just a little. Happy 2 months to our Rueje!!! 💗✨

A big thank you to Catelin Drey for all of the beautiful dresses she’s gifted us, including this one, and the sweet baby sack designed for baby photography. 💗✨ We’re so grateful for these little touches that make capturing her memories even more special!!!

Back for my fourth year photographing the Morningside University commencement today 🎓

It’s always such an honor to return to Morningside University and document this meaningful day, and I feel really grateful to be part of it again. So proud of all the graduates and the hard work that brought them to this milestone.

I had a wonderful time capturing everything, and I’m thankful my husband was there helping me throughout the day as well. Feeling appreciative for the experience, the people, and another beautiful commencement season at Morningside University 📸❤️

It felt so great to be back in my photography zone yesterday, capturing the Morningside University St. Luke's College graduation ceremony. Even more special having my husband by my side helping take pictures with me through it all 📸❤️ Congratulations to all the graduates stepping into such important and meaningful careers!

Two weeks ago today, we welcomed our sweet baby girl, Rueje Kianë Castro 💕

She made her entrance on April 1st, 2026 at 5:20 AM, just a little past her due date and already showing us her playful sense of humor 😄

I’ve been a bit quieter with photography as I’ve slowed down for pregnancy, rest, and preparing for her arrival. It’s been such a grounding, beautiful season for my husband and me.

Her name holds so much meaning. Rueje (pronounced like “rouge”) is a blend of mine and Rueben’s names, and her middle name, Kianë (KEE-ah-nuh), honors both of our moms, Kim and Sjane. The first photo captures something really special, our moms’ hands gently holding her. She’s also wrapped in a custom blanket gifted by my best friend Peggy, which makes it all feel even more meaningful.

We’re completely in love and so grateful she’s here with us. Welcome to the world, baby girl ✨
