At Pretty Place, as the sun breaks over the horizon, it feels like hope itself is rising. The cross stands tall, steady, unchanging — reminding me that no matter what valleys we walk through, the light will come again. His love doesn’t waver, even when life feels heavy. Each sunrise whispers keep going, I’m still here.

Pretty Place — officially the Fred W. Symmes Chapel — sits on the edge of Standing Stone Mountain at about 3,200 feet. Built in the 1940s as part of YMCA Camp Greenville, it offers one of the most breathtaking sunrise views in the Blue Ridge Mountains. On clear mornings, you can even see across three states!

Proof that Mother Nature doesn’t need filters — just good lighting. A little reminder that the best views don’t come from a screen.

This weekend’s forecast: 100% chance of slowing down. May your weekend bring slow moments and quiet healing.

Bighorn rams: the daredevils of Glacier! With horns built for epic headbutts and legs made for cliff-hopping, these mountain masters can leap, climb, and battle like pros. Catch a glimpse if you can… they’re masters of the high life!

When the view’s this good, you raise your hands and hope the wind doesn’t blow you off. I’m smiling on the outside, questioning my life choices on the edge. šŸ˜…

North Clear Creek Falls is one of Colorado’s most easily accessible waterfalls — you can see it just a few minutes’ walk from the parking area off Highway 149 between Creede and Lake City. The falls drop about 100 feet over volcanic rock formed from eruptions millions of years ago when the San Juan Mountains were active volcanoes!

Layers of mountains bathed in golden hour’s quiet magic. ✨

The mountains have a way of reminding me that healing isn’t fast but it is possible. The sun goes down every night, yet the next morning it rises again. Maybe that’s how our hearts heal too — quietly, one sunrise at a time.

Hard to believe this was just a few weeks ago when the sun actually stayed out past dinner. Now it’s pitch black before I even finish cleaning up toddler toys. šŸ˜…

Caught this view along Going-to-the-Sun Road. There’s something sacred about those last few minutes of light in the mountains. The world slows down, the air softens, and for a moment, everything feels exactly as it should.

Fun Fact
Going-to-the-Sun Road was the first road in the U.S. built specifically to blend into its mountain scenery — every curve was designed to show off the view.

Some mornings just smell better than others. She must’ve caught that first whiff of Yellowstone’s finest—fresh mountain air with a hint of pine and morning coffee. Proof that even moose appreciate a good brew. šŸ«Ž ā˜•ļø

Hey there! I’m Ashley — Part-time wildlife chaser, full-time sucker for a good view and full-time coffee drinker. (Yes, I can drink coffee throughout the whole day) ā˜•šŸ“ø

I’ve been a photography hobbyist for about 20 years — basically, I’ve built a massive collection of mountain views and blurry masterpieces while learning to make peace with light and aperture. šŸ˜‚
I’m a photographer with a heart for nature, wildlife, storytelling, and capturing life’s peaceful, in-between moments.

Every creature, every sunrise, every sunset, every shadowed forest path — they all have a story to tell.
My work is inspired by the beauty of creation and the calm wonder of being outdoors.

When I’m not behind the camera, you can probably find me chasing my toddler, sipping coffee that’s gone cold, or planning my next mountain adventure.

I hope my photos remind you to slow down, breathe deeply, and notice the miracles all around us. šŸŒæšŸ¤

Thanks for being here. Now, let’s enjoy the views together 🩵
