lieve photography should be fun, effortless, and authentically you - and we're here to prove everyone who thinks they are awkward in front of the camera wrong. We are LGBTQ+ and BIPOC inclusive, Leave No Trace Aware, and believe Adventure is for Everyone. You deserve an experience as awesome as your photos. You care about photography deeply but not as much as experiencing your wedding day with your closest family and friends. You want your wedding documented fully, but not at the expense of your day feeling like a photo session. We want to honor your wedding with a photography experience that is never intrusive but always present – capturing the essence of the moment and all the emotions you felt so when you look back on them, you can truly relive the day and remember what matters most. A style that won't go out of style. Our candid shooting style and bold, but true-to-life color and skin tones that won't be off trend in 5 years. Candid, documentary, moment-driven...
You just know you want your wedding day to be fun, and you want to enjoy every moment with your love, your family, and your friends. You know the day will be over in a flash, so the photos are pretty important too. We’ll be there for every moment, capturing both the things you experienced and those you might have missed. Wedding photography that is never intrusive but always present. On a wedding day, we pose only when necessary and strive to never interrupt a natural moment. This means we’re always preparing for the next picture-worthy moment and constantly thinking on our feet. This allows you to stay in the moment and soak up all the love and emotions while we do the heavy lifting to ensure those moments are preserved forever. Intentional and adventurous elopements. We love intimate wedding days that revolve around your values and what would make your Best Day Ever. We are firm believers in making your wedding day unique and customized to you. Whether that means just the two of you on a remote mountaintop or 30 of your closest family and friends in a backyard, we are there for you with coverage that makes sense, and guidance through every step of the planning process. When you elope, the location you choose is as much a part of the story as you are. We specialize in adventure elopements and understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with planning and executing these intimate celebrations. From Mount Rainier to the Olympic Peninsula, the Pacific Northwest offers endless breathtaking locations for your elopement. Our goal is for your location to enhance your eloping experience. We're going to come right out and say it - we really want to be your wedding photographers. Salt & Pine is a safe space for all love and all adventures.

In 2013 Joe and I took a week-long trip to Seattle. We came back to Kansas "joking" with each other about moving - except neither of us was really joking. We finally called each other's bluff and started creating a plan to move Salt & Pine, ourselves, and 2 dogs across the country.

That decision completely changed our lives. We cannot imagine where we'd be if we hadn't taken a chance and moved to a place we'd only visited a couple times, where we knew exactly one person, 11 years ago. There is no place we'd rather be than living in our log cabin, adventuring around the PNW, being trusted with capturing our couples' weddings and elopements. We've met so many amazing people, and to be asked again and again to photograph the big moments in their lives is our greatest achievement as business owners.

Okay, we're getting a little sappy. But the point is, when you get that crazy thought in your 20's, it could be the idea that changes your life - so go all in.

One of the best things about elopements is you can choose the things you want to do on your wedding day, and unapologetically leave the rest behind.

A hike? Check.
Getting ready together? Check.
Craft cocktails on the top of a mountain? Check.
Private vows with a view? Check.
Your dog as your ring bearer? Check.

And if it's your dream to crush 21 switchbacks on your wedding day to get to the perfect view for your ceremony, we'll be there every step of the way (literally).

Why not get married in your favorite place on earth?

That is exactly what these two did. They brought all their loved ones to Mazama, their favorite place to take trips together (along with their adorable Berner, who was by their side all day).

The vibe was relaxed, and the heli-barn was party central once the sun went down.

These two hoped for a moody fall day in Olympic National Park for their engagement photos, and it was delivered! They are headed to India for their wedding and wanted a session that showed off what they love most about making Seattle and the PNW home. And isn't that why photography is so special? We can bottle up the love of a place to share with someone on the other side of the world.

This Olympic National Park elopement at the Lake Quinault Lodge had moody October vibes and a heartfelt ceremony with the couple's closest family and friends. The low clouds and fog over the mountains seemed to add to the close, romantic feelings of the day.

The next day we met up again to hike down to Second Beach for them to share their private vows to one another. The light was soft and the tide was low, perfect for running on the beach.

We're reminded every time we visit the Olympic Peninsula how much diversity you get within such a small area. From misty mountains surrounding a lake, to mossy rainforests, to ocean beaches with towering sea stacks. It just might be the ultimate place to elope!

We're always chasing ways to incorporate these three things into our photos. Not every photo has to have all three (especially in an obvious way) but over the years we've noticed the majority of our most compelling images - the ones we keep coming back to, the ones we're most proud of, and the ones that tell the most complete story, do.

Light, Love, and Landscape are the things we focus on when we are creating portraits for our couples.

I'm sure when your family owns a wedding venue, you have a lot of time to imagine what your own wedding will look like. If you ask us, they nailed it! The day was filled with personal touches and activities like a cigar bar, signature drinks from a VW bus, and a VW bus photo booth. These two were a dream to work with and it was the perfect summer wedding at one of our favorite Kitsap wedding venues. We were so honored to be a part of it!

We definitely haven't shared enough from this North Cascades elopement yet. The Washington Pass Overlook made the perfect location. On our way back home we hoped to catch some star photos at Diablo Lake, but the weather didn't cooperate. Good thing the bride brought her own starlight!

P.S. Anyone catch the very subtle bookish vibes? 📚✨

What happens when you go up to the Olympics to find the mountains socked in but say "let's just wait and see if it clears off for sunset".

To be real we were not confident we were going to see anything but clouds to photograph this couple. But, we kept getting little peeks of mountain so we worked with what we had until just before sunset the sky literally parted and then the cloud inversion lit up. Our jaws were on the ground. Olympic National Park never disappoints!
