I know I barely make posts anymore. Instagram has steadily moved from photography-friendly to reels and thrills. While I’m versed in making content, videos and editing and scheduling and marketing for your own account… it’s a lot. Especially when I’m about 3 years into “I promise I’m going to post again frequently!” and still haven’t found my niche. New Orleans hasn’t left me; I still split time there. A lot. But life! When I started this account, I was working part-time and wrapping up an MA. I went through a period of freelance marketing, which I thought I’d have to make a career, until I found my current “real” job. The thing is, most of us don’t have time to pursue this like I was unless you’re doing it as a job. It takes so much time and effort to make the quality content expected these days. Don’t even get me started on the algorithm. I also hate typing responses on my phone so much that I’ll leave messages on read far too long… the last 10 years has drained us all. All that to say, I still miss it. I miss a lot of you guys. I want to spread creativity and inspire and have discussions. I thought about painting again and making TikToks about my process. I thought about writing and posting links to those articles here. I don’t know what I’ll do, if anything. Maybe it stays my personal account until we end up nixing IG for good. It’s okay to take a few years to chill. To live outside an online social bubble. Thinking about a Substack? Thinking about a website? Maybe. We’ll see. It’s also nice to just focus on your day-to-day, garden, and read. Hope to talk to several of you soon. Maybe I’ll post another pic in a few days?

The bewitching hour draws nearer… ✨🔮 Here’s a peak at the living room this year. Or, rather, the busiest corner. The rest has minimal decor (a witch hat on the piano is about it). This year has been pretty scary if I do say so myself, & I’ll admit to barely feeling up to decorating for anything. However, I still feel that art & decor & all that jazz still serves a purpose in trying times to make us feel a tiny bit better. The first *really* crisp air hitting this morning also helped me feel a bit inspired. A lot of the featured items have been collected over the years, but ask me in the comments if you want to know where any specific item is from. Let’s try to finish out this October with some spooky but brighter vibes. 🎃🍁💀🧡

It’s been a minute. 🤔 Some of my followers are shockingly still here, so I decided to make a little posty-post for the first time since… early this year? 😬 I don’t even know. I do not do photography as a side hustle anymore, and instagram is painful these days. I still want to post more and become active again and start some kind of new project… life has been good and I’ve been tapping back into my artistic side again. Let’s see what happens! ✨🎨📸 — This beautiful brick Queen Anne style was built in 1886 and resides in the cute as a button Marshall, Texas! 🏡

This house in Carrollton has always been one of my favorites. ✨ I used to live nearby on Leonidas and walked past it almost every day. I feel so lucky to have called so many New Orleans neighborhoods home. I wish I could be there for the .59 this weekend! 🏈 I’ll try to share some stories from my trip last week.

On another note, I know this account started as a space for my photography, and to those who still follow for that—thank you for sticking around. Life has been wild (as always), and splitting my time between Shreveport and NOLA for work leaves little room for Instagram. Honestly, the current state of and hasn’t helped my motivation either.

That said, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this space to be. I think I want to bring it back to a more personal creative outlet—still photography, but also writing, painting, design… anything I make. More than ever, I realize how important these spaces are for staying sane. So, here’s to posting more, reconnecting, and seeing where this goes. I appreciate all of you who’ve stayed with me, and I hope we can rekindle some of those connections in the months ahead! 💕

A few days ago, I spent about 30 minutes selecting/editing photos & creating a draft post of holiday-inspired photos from my recent New Orleans trip. I get ready to type up a caption (on my laptop because I can’t even be bothered to text that much on a phone), & has deleted my drafts randomly. Again. Man, if I didn’t already have enough things making it difficult for me to post on here. I kept thinking all year I’d eventually get back in a posting routine, but my energy has been spread thin. I’ve had enough to put towards improving my mental health, “real” job, worrying about the world, and my little home life. I’ve been an okay friend to some, a bad one to others. 2024 was not my year. I’m not sure what 2025 holds, but I hope it’s not as scary as it feels right now. I just ask the universe for continued grace and also maybe to find some creative inspiration and motivation that actually leads to something more concrete than just ideas swimming around my brain. Here’s a bad video of our tree this year, and a glimpse of my recent decision to indulge the nostalgia of muti-color lights. 🎄
