I believe in self portraits.
They're a way to experience yourself both objectively and subjectively. You can observe yourself, maybe closer to how others see you, and then find your own beauty.
I've used self portraits for lighting and concept experiments for years. They've always been a way to test new ideas in a safe way only I could see, while still exploring bodies, stories, and shadows. When the results were good, just like with any other photo, I could share them. But they also helped validate myself, my body, and my existence.
Most artists want to be seen, and most artists want to find a way to show the viewer what they see through their own eyes. Self portraits are one of the most straightforward ways to achieve this.
Here I am. Eddie. Simply me, exploring my world and light.
What do you see in these? What do you think I was seeing or feeling?
