A little wedding photographer PSA because I’ve been seeing multiple posts like this EVERY DAY all summer 😅
If you’re planning a wedding last minute, please don’t assume that automatically means photographers will offer their services at a heavily discounted rate.
I’ve seen so many posts lately looking for photographers for September/October of this year with budgets under $1,000, with the reasoning being that the date is so close.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with having a smaller photography budget or looking for someone who fits within it. 🤍
But last-minute availability doesn’t equal clearance pricing.
We’re still photographing the same number of hours, bringing the same thousands of dollars worth of equipment, carrying the same insurance, backing up the same thousands of images, spending the same hours editing, delivering the same experience, and doing the same amount of work after your wedding.
And honestly, a last-minute wedding often require MORE work because we’re squeezing months of communication, scrambling to find assistants/second shooters, figuring out childcare, planning, timelines, questionnaires, engagement sessions, and preparation into just a few weeks.
Your photographer having your date available doesn’t make their work less valuable simply because the date is close. Please give your photographer more notice
Side note: And before any of my couples panic — this is absolutely NOT about anyone who has come to me last minute because their original photographer backed out. I have a couple of you in that situation, and unexpectedly having to find a new photographer weeks before your wedding is a completely different circumstance.
XOXO
