As portrait artists and photographers, we spend so much time documenting everyone else’s stories that we rarely stop long enough to update the images that represent our own.

After a season of growth creatively and personally, I knew it was finally time for new branding portraits, and my friend and mentor Anne Marie with Lasting Images Photography captured this season so beautifully.

These portraits feel like the studio I’ve built, the artwork I love creating, and the direction Courtney Mitchell Photography continues to grow toward.

Just like that, graduation week is here. 🎓✨

To the Class of 2026, CONGRATS! What an incredible season this has been to witness. The late nights, the milestones, the friendships, the growth… all leading to this moment.

Busy day today with two Environmental Portrait Sessions. I spent the morning with David Whitfield Music on Pitchfork Road and WOW! You'll have to wait for his single to drop, but there was magic made✨ Now its time to charge the batteries and head up to Lake Texoma for the second Session with Texoma City Lifestyle 🩵

I just wrapped up my 9th year at the of Professional Photography, and I’m still trying to put the experience into words.

Some weeks don’t just teach you something new… they shift something in you. I walked in thinking I knew the direction I wanted to go. And then, just like that, everything pivoted in the best way.

This year, I had the opportunity to learn from and his incredible wife Lesa. What they shared wasn’t just technique, it was a completely new way of seeing.

We explored embellishing printed portraits and transforming them into mixed media artwork… pieces that go beyond photography and become something truly one-of-a-kind.

And that’s what stayed with me. Because at the end of the day, this has never just been about taking a beautiful image.

It’s about creating something that lives in your home…
something that feels personal…
something that lasts.

This week stretched my creativity, challenged my expectations, and honestly… breathed new life into what I do.

I’m so grateful for the experience, for the people, and for the reminder that growth doesn’t always look like what you planned.
