Some photographs just get better with time.

Today, this is a beautiful portrait of a mom and her son.

But years from now, it will hold so much more. The way he looked at this age. His smile. How tall he was beside her. And a relationship that will keep changing as he grows.

It’s one of the things I love most about family portraits. We may create them for today, but their real value has a way of showing up later. 🤍

A great professional portrait doesn’t always have to look like a traditional headshot.

Especially when you’re the face of your business.

For real estate agents, business owners, and other professionals, I love creating a mix of polished headshots and more relaxed portraits that show some personality. It gives you a library of images you can actually use across your website, social media, marketing, and more.

Lighting. Posing. Tethered capture. A few tweaks along the way. And yes, sometimes a whole lot of equipment.

One of my favorite parts of a studio session is being able to slow down, make adjustments as we go, and let my clients see what we’re creating together right there on the screen.

The finished portrait may look effortless.

Remember this moment? 😂

A couple of weeks ago I shared this behind the scenes photo from an extended family portrait session, and it was the perfect example of what photographing little kids sometimes looks like.

They wiggle. They get distracted. They decide being upside down is much more fun than standing nicely for a picture. And you know what? That’s okay.

Parents sometimes worry that their children won’t cooperate enough to get a beautiful family portrait. But they don’t have to be perfect for me. Part of my job is knowing when to direct, when to play, when to give them a minute, and when to just roll with it.

Because while it may have looked a little chaotic behind the scenes, swipe over and look at what we created. ❤️

This is why I always tell parents and grandparents not to wait for the “perfect” age or perfect behavior to have their family photographed.

Little kids are going to be little kids and we can still create something beautiful.

Athlete portraits don’t have to look like everyone else’s.

A favorite sport. A little personality. A whole lot of confidence.

This middle school volleyball portrait was created right here in the studio with a bold, modern setup designed to make her the focus. Because these years deserve more than the standard sports photo. They deserve portraits that actually feel like them.

And that smile? Pretty sure she understood the assignment.

The best business portraits do more than show what you look like. They give people a sense of who you are before you ever walk into the room.

A great suit. A bold bow tie. A little personality in the socks. Every detail becomes part of the story.

Kinda chic to stay timeless.

Trends come and go. I’ve never been terribly interested in chasing them.

I’d rather create portraits with beautiful light, true to life color, thoughtful posing, and the kind of connection that will still feel like you years from now.

I believe photographs deserve to be more than digital clutter. They deserve to be printed, held, displayed, and eventually passed down.

And I believe knowing how to create the image in camera will always matter.

So if timeless is having a moment, I guess I’ve been chic all along.
