Thanks for weighing in on the poll on my story the other day! If you missed it, I was asking what everyone wanted me to post next. Newborn it is! Sometimes it feels like managing socials is a full time job in itself, so it's nice to have a little input here and there.

I have had so many sweet babies in the studio lately and something that I am noticing is that purple has been taking the place of pink for the girlies. On top of that, color choices are bold and bright right now! You know I'm here for it. I love me some good color. It's always interesting to watch the trends in color change. What's your favorite color right now?

This year AI’s got people in a chokehold. It’s everywhere! You see it in the flyers that all look the same. You see it in the “photos” where everyone wants to see what they’d look like in the 80’s. And now, it’s also got our industry in the way of Christmas session setups. You’ve seen them, I know you have.

Listen, I get it. Everyone is looking for the most efficient way to get a job done. Photographers are having to work harder than ever to get bookings and keep clients. I can see the appeal. So, you put in the prompt and you get this lovely setup, that also comes with a stellar caption and an entire marketing post. What’s not to love? But then what? What happens when your clients show up? How do you replicate that for them? I’m sorry, but I’m just not in the business of misleading my people.

Like I said, I get it, and I think AI has a place (it’s a VERY SMALL place, though), but I think you guys deserve better. I think you deserve REAL.

This little dumpling, you guys, she is so sweet!! And I get to see her (and her precious family) again today for their in-home Lifestyle Session. I really haven't shared much of my Lifestyle work, but they are such lovely sessions. Such a special way to document this season in life.

Oh, Andi. You precious girl. I would go hang out on the mountain and pick flowers with you any day.

I retract all statements about not wanting to do senior sessions that I have ever made. Today's seniors are so lovely and so dreamy. And so are their parents.

Before last year I had a policy of only accepting 3 senior sessions a year. It was jut not my main focus and not something I had intended to love so much. I never hated senior sessions, it just wasn't my desired niche. But then last year happened. Naturally I ended up with lots more seniors because it was my son's graduating class and I just couldn't say no to these kids that I had literally watched grow up. I just adored them too much. Well, turns out, I actually have a soft spot for senior sessions, too. This year I have opened my books freely to seniors and I am so happy that I have. I don't know what it is, but I somehow get the most wonderful, easy going, and stunning seniors.

I have a lot of sharing that I want to do, but every time I say I'm going to, it doesn't really happen how I think it should. It's not because the humans or the photos aren't worthy, but because social media isn't quite what it used to be. If I'm being honest, I kind of have a love hate relationship with it. This day and age it feels like no matter your profession, you also have to add "content creator" to your resume in order to succeed. But sometimes I think that actually takes away from the real reason why we do what we do. So, I'm living a fine line between staying present here and just being fully present in my work and my dedication to my clients. I so appreciate the love when I do post, and it is so lovely to be able to show what I'm doing, but also know I'm not alone in feeling like social media has taken a weird turn. Thanks to those of you that are still following, even through my absence.

I'm still here. I'm still shooting. I'm still booking. Come hang out with me and we'll make some pretty pictures. You can put them on your wall, which will be even more awesome than putting them on social media 😘

It's in the thick of it all that the magic is happening, and sometimes we are too busy to even notice it. The photo sessions are so much more than just having pretty pictures for your Christmas cards. It's about taking the time to slow down and be IN the magic. To be present in this phase of your lives and document the beauty that it is. Right here. Right now. I so often hear people say they're just waiting for _______ to get the photos. YOU GUYS.
