How many moments happen on a such a monumental day? You can’t really count moments can you, but you can try to capture as many as possible. Filling 20 slides with priceless moments is its own art form. It’s hard. I spend the longest time looking at hundreds of film scans trying to choose 20 moments that belong to someone else. As a storyteller it’s so hard not to share them all. I want you to know Anastasia & Barrick’s story. I want to share the stories I was lucky enough to hear from friends and family all day long. I want you to see the written speech by her father. I want to show you the details on his jacket designed by his mother. I want you to hear the giggles of children that traveled all the way from Dubai. I want you to laugh when you hear the groomsmen argue over who really is Barrick’s BEST friend. I want you to see what a badass Anastasia is when she drives off in a MGB Roadster. You really should have been there, and if you weren’t, these 20 film slides will have to do.

Want to know something wild? I don’t match my digital and film scans. At all. Don’t even try. Why bother? I let film shine because why else are we paying big bucks for it. I LOVE how film compliments a digital gallery. Can you guess which two images are film. I personally think it’s very obvious…and I like it that way. It’s not always obvious though and I like that too.

Anyway, I loved this wedding. So much. Teegan and Gray are spectacular.

Pouring rain, and not a single complaint. They played rock paper scissors to decide who would read their vows first. The wedding arbor had been built by the bride’s family. Loved ones came in from all over the country. Their parents listened to the vows with tears in their eyes. The weather tried to change the plans, but it never changed what the day was about.

Want to know what the best kind of celebration of love is? It’s the kind that brings you joy. These two woke up together, put on their hottest fits, asked their closest family to drive down, said their vows at the city hall, and had the best day ever. I love that. I love that I’m lucky enough to witness it and even luckier to document it.

Film from Savana & Ty’s sweet day. This day was so special. Slow paced, soft kind energy, and soooo many personal touches. The desserts, family recipes, hand made gifts, recreating the parents’ wedding photos, quietly reading vows that proved they were made for each other, so much intention. I’m lucky to witness so much love.

Anastasia found something personal to connect over with almost everyone she spoke to. My brother Chet mentioned he played trumpet and she immediately brought up Chet Baker. She told me I reminded her of a brunette Taylor Swift, which I’ll be riding that high of for the rest of the year. ✨ Conversations drifted into history, literature, music... or some story that made the person she was talking to feel known.

Then you meet her sister and parents and it all starts to make sense. Deeply intellectual, bubbly and funny, and just overall warm.

Barrick’s best man told the story of two boys meeting in a military school and playing football together. They claim that neither of them was especially good at it, but they were good together. A great toast to friendship.

People traveled from all over the world to celebrate these two. One little boy and his family made the trip from Dubai, which has to win the unofficial award for longest commute.

Ana & Barrick danced to “Ophelia.” They practiced in the Nathaniel Palmer House before the wedding. You could see how excited they were to surprise everyone. Barrick couldn’t stop smiling.

We spend a lot of weekends around people we’ve never met before. And we leave those celebrations knowing we’ll get to keep up with new friends for years to come. I am excited for what the future holds for these two and I’m grateful to know them.

Two people from different parts of the world ended up in the same place at the same time (and according to her dad, Ana never looked back). Different places, different experiences, but they both arrived at the same way of seeing the world. They are both endlessly curious, thoughtful people, the kind who ask good questions and genuinely want to hear the answer.

And that showed up in everything about the weekend, in the people who showed up from all over the world, the conversations, and the way so many different parts of their lives came together in one room (and on one electric dance floor).
