I recently asked Zach what his favorite travel memory was that was rough to experience, but funny now that we’re on the flip side of it.
We did once build a tent with light from only the moon after I booked our campsite on the wrong side of Yosemite. Or the time I was convinced flood waters in Midland were going to drift us away in my poor Subaru (same trip my windshield wiper flew off mid-drive, btw).
This picture was the last of my Rome roll and it isn’t my favorite photo of us, but it tells the story of our relationship best.
After two cancelled flights and draining our saved-up miles to finally get to Paris, we de-boarded our plane and hopped on the metro like little sardines and miserably made our way to the city center. We had booked last-minute tickets to the Louvre, which closed at 5, giving us only a couple of hours to make it to the museum from the Paris airport (which is hardly in Paris) and see some art. Hungry, EXHAUSTED and very cold, we arrived with only 45 minutes to explore.
We’ve never felt the level of exhaustion that we felt in this photo. I packed for warm Paris not knowing it was actually cold Paris season, so I wore Zach’s jacket (that matched with none of my cute nuuly outfits) the whole time. We walked (jogged) around the Louvre to see the highlights and ended our very long day with the best dumplings I’ve ever had in my ~life~.
All of this to say, my favorite part of being married to Zach is how even the most frustrating, tiring memories always become our favorite. It’s a testament to the kind of joy he brings to the table – that I’m so lucky to be on the receiving end of.
Happy anniversary to my very best friend. Seeing the world through your eyes is my greatest blessing ❣️
