“Hey can we use your parasol for their engagement photos?” Quickly turned into some of the most fun photos I’ve ever taken.

On a crowded evening in the park (there was a local prom taking place) Dylan got down on one knee and asked Mackenzie to marry him. After a tearful and enthusiastic yes we traipsed all over Duke Gardens capturing the beginning of this new chapter.

As we approached the willow tree I spotted a white parasol sitting amongst a group of ladies. “The worst they could say is no” and they didn’t, they were kind and even generously offered watermelon slices to cool us down.

After a wonderful evening of yes’s we headed back to our respective vehicles hearts and camera roll full. 🤍

We got rained on a little for Andrew and Caragh’s engagement photos but it didn’t deter us in the slightest from creating these memories plus the sun popped out at the very end of the evening 😌

These two were down for anything. This day almost didn’t happen but they didn’t let the weather stop their plans for romantic and dreamy engagement photos. Funny enough their session was originally supposed to be a proposal photoshoot with me capturing him popping the question but Andrew excitedly proposed before the planned date so this turned into their engagement photos and it was perfect! I’m so glad that Caragh was able to be a part of the plans and she was able to change outfits!

Big shoutout to Kelsey, Caraghs sister for being the day of coordinator for their session! She got together all the details and helped so much 🤍

1. You get a private, intimate moment together
Your wedding day goes by quickly. A first look gives you a chance to slow down, breathe, and see each other before the day becomes a whirlwind.

2. It helps calm your nerves
Seeing your best friend before you walk down the aisle calms the jitters faster then any pep talk 🤍

3. You’ll have more time for photos
Completing couples’ portraits, wedding party photos, and even some family photos before the ceremony means you can spend much more of cocktail hour with your guests instead of taking pictures. It also creates a smoother timeline with less rushing.

4. Your reactions are often more genuine and emotional
Oftentimes the bride thinks the groom won’t have an emotional reaction during the ceremony because he saw her before but oftentimes the opposite happens. During the ceremony, emotions can be mixed with the pressure of everyone watching. A first look allows you to fully express your feelings naturally, creating heartfelt moments that make for incredibly meaningful photographs.

5. You get more beautiful portraits
Depending on your ceremony time, taking portraits before the ceremony often means photographing during brighter, sunny hours This gives you a larger variety of images and reduces stress of racing against the sunset afterward.

These two trusted me with being a part of their love story and it was every bit special that we imagined.

Every step of the way when I was checking in Samantha would say “I don’t know but I trust your vision” and when I turned the back of the camera to reveal this first photo she matched my own squeal of joy at the outcome.

It was an honor to capture these two best friends in turning the page to a new chapter. How exciting to dance on the side of a mountain while your now fiancé watches with love in his eyes, like a chapter out of a romance novel I captured it as it unfolded.

The unexpected moments like Charles twisting his ankle and horse riders riding by only made it all the more unforgettable. And they will get to tell this story for years to come.

No one can tell me otherwise! There is something in the water and I lovvveee it! All these proposals have been so so sweet. My heart is full for the many couples (some not videoed) who made the choice to say yes to the next chapter together 🥹

When planning Alexander’s proposal to Ashley we carefully scouted Zinc House for the perfect spot and settled on their gorgeous white gazebo with a back up spot in front of the beautiful blue pond.

What we didn’t plan for was a full on festival going on during the day. The parking was full to the brim, the grounds were swarming with people, but through careful placement and plenty of editing we still had a romantic photoshoot with no extras in the background.
