The blue birds have really been showing out for me the past couple weeks. Cardinals and blue jays have been sneaky sneaks! I need to buy a bird feeder!

Today I ventured out to a local dairy farm Guernsey Girl Creamery. Their dairy cows are just beautiful 🤩 📸. They have a store with farm fresh goodies—including their milk. Love my drives out to the country exploring.

Some days, I photograph majestic things like the Bald Eagle 🦅—other days, I am lucky to find a toadstool 🍄 in a stump. Sometimes you might have to look a little harder for beauty—but I promise, if you seek, you will find it.

Advent in Photos: Day 9 📸

I missed a couple days, but I see beauty in that. God is faithful—he came despite the unfaithfulness of men. Abraham’s lies, Jacob’s deceit, Joseph’s slavery, David’s unfaithfulness, and 400 years of silence—NONE of it stopped Jesus from coming. Whether or not you “feel” advent in your heart, He came in the midst of a mess to deliver his people forever—He will carry you today. Thank him for his coming, and advent may bloom in your heart.

O come, Thou Key of David, come
And open wide our heav'nly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.

Advent in photos: Day 6 📸

O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,
And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death's dark shadows put to flight.

Advent in photos: Day 5 📸

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height
In ancient times didst give the law
In cloud, and majesty and awe

(This image was photographed over the summer when Dan and I took a trip to Hilton Head Island. We were so fortunate that we got to see this Eagle several times. I chose this image because of the words majesty and awe as well as “Lord of might”. I often think as humans with limited ability—we see things in black and white. God is either gentle like a lamb or he is a warrior lion, but He who is unlimited is both.)

Advent in Photos: Day 4 📸

O come, our Wisdom from on high,

Who ordered all things mightily;
To us the path of knowledge show,
and teach us in her ways to go.

If you know me at all, you know I am a crazy cat 🐈 lady! Any way, a couple weeks ago I was smitten with a Momma cat and her three babies I met in the parking lot on the Broad River Greenway trail. The family looked happy and healthy so I enjoyed their company and let them be. This week, I went back and visited with my precious cat friends. I was thrilled to see them bonded with the park ranger. He informed me that they are getting fed, and that he likes having them around to cut down on rodents. Aren’t they SO cute?!!! 😻

Hey All! It's been forever since I have posted any updates. As many of you know, I took a siesta from photography because life was busy, my mental health was struggling and the BIGGEST reason because I STINK at setting boundaries. It's honestly easier for me to walk away from something than to set appropriate boundaries because the people pleaser in me doesn't want to say no.

But over this past year, I have learned that boundaries aren't about "being mean", they are a safe guard for my heart, for my family, and even for those around me. When we fail to have appropriate boundaries, we often end up with resentful hearts toward others we view as taking from us. Boundaries are the most loving thing for all involved.

Due to this boundary awakening in me, and what is still a deep love for photography--I will mostly only be doing hobby photography. Photography is my art, my therapy, and even leads my heart in worship of my God. I will on occasion still provide photography services to friends, but only within Cleveland County. I will not be driving all over creation taking photos. I also will not provide mini-sessions, event photography, newborn photography or real estate photography, so basically that just leaves families and individuals while the rest is just my hobby. I realize that these boundaries aren't exactly good for "business", but making a business is not my goal. I simply want to make pretty pictures and share my art.

Thanks to those of you have supported my journey. I hope you will be inspired here. I hope you will see the beauty that I see in every person, place and thing I encounter with the lens.

This is the face of the most precious boy. This is also the face of a boy that battles anxious thoughts daily. The battle became extremely intense this past weekend at our local ER which we were then transported to Levine Children’s hospital to try to find answers to a very rapid heartbeat. I had to stay strong for him but I felt broken inside. The weekend before that, I was at the emergency vet with my dog who was very ill. To say it has been a stressful few weeks would be an extreme understatement. My anxiety has also struggled.

Yesterday, he told me he just wished he could be like a “normal kid” who didn’t have to fight so hard to feel calm. This broke my heart because this kid is absolutely the sweetest and funniest kid you will ever meet. With all of that said, my photography business is going on hold until further notice. My fight is to get him every last resource he needs not to be a ”normal kid” because he would never fit that mold anyway but to be the best version of himself at peace knowing how loved he is by God and his family.

Thank you all so much for your support. Making space in my calendar has given my brain space to help him and even eases my own anxiety.
