A change Iām making to protect our children!
As a photographer and, most importantly, a mom, Iāve made a personal decision regarding the way I share my work online.
With the recent changes and growing concerns surrounding AI, childrenās images, and how photos shared online can potentially be used, Iāve decided that I will no longer be posting identifiable images of childrenās faces on my business social media pages.
This is something Iāve thought about carefully. I donāt even allow my own childās face to be shared on social media, so it didnāt feel right for me to continue publicly sharing the faces of other peopleās children.
Going forward, youāll see more images of children:
-Walking away from the camera
-With their faces blurred or obscured
-From the side or with only part of their face visible
Captured in a way that preserves the feeling and story of the moment without clearly identifying them
My clients will always have the choice to share their own photographs. If you love your images and want to post them on your personal page, you absolutely can. My decision applies specifically to what I choose to publicly share on my business page.
I understand that this may mean I have fewer images to showcase online, and yes, there is a possibility that it could impact my business. But if protecting children means sacrificing a little exposure or even losing some business, that is a trade off Iām willing to make.
Childrenās privacy and safety are far more important to me than social media engagement, portfolio content, or marketing.
As a photographer, Iām trusted with some of the most precious moments in my clientsā lives. As a mom, I know how deeply important it is to protect those little people entrusted to us.
I would rather be overly cautious when it comes to children than wish I had been more careful later. š¤
