Senior sessions are one of my favorite things to gift to young people passing through my life. I started taking photography seriously when I got the role of yearbook photographer in high school. Part of my job was tracking down seniors who didn’t submit photos. Usually it came down to their parents not being able to afford professional photos so they had nothing to submit. It broke my heart because I was that kid too. Instead of taking photos against the hallway brick wall to fill the space on the page and check a name off my list, I would meet up with kids after school for a quick session so their picture wouldn’t stand out against the others. I didn’t want anyone to feel embarrassed or less-than because they couldn’t afford nice photos. Now it’s a way to recognize the hardworking kids around me. Ruby is one of the hardest working high schoolers I’ve ever known, balancing three jobs including being a CNA, and finishing high school. All with a smile and great attitude. It was an honor to capture this chapter. Cheers to your senior year, Rubes!
