BNSF 4714 painted in the Santa Fe’s iconic warbonnet paint, heads westbound on the Chillicothe Sub, this historic mainline of the Santa Fe Railway. It is passing through the small town of Wilbern, IL. To the right of the main is the abandoned Standard Oil Pumping station from the early 1900s.

"Shovel Nose Airstream"

Appearing more like an Airstream than a locomotive, former CB&Q 9903 named “Injun Joe” is being towed up I-39 near Rochelle, IL on the way to its new home in Wisconsin. Built in 1935 as part of the Mark Twain Zephyr, this unique shovel nose locomotive has been purchased by the Wisconsin Great Northern railroad to restore it to operation.

BNSF 8501 leads a loaded coal train up Crawford Hill as it rounds the corner at Breezy Point. Dust, from the use of the locomotive sanders flies, as this SD70ACE-P4 leads the heavy train up the steep grade. Back in the horseshoe the helper set can be seen shoving while and empty heads downgrade on the other main.
