A little introduction from behind the camera! 📸🐴

Hi! 👋 I figured it was time to share a little more about the person behind Copper Arrow Photography! I’m Aubray!

My love for horses started when I was just 5 years old, when my grandpa took me to my first riding lessons. Little did I know just how big a part of my life horses would become. 🤎

These days, you’ll find me riding my mare, Lovey, who’s making the transition from barrel horse to dressage horse! I’m a big believer that there’s always something new to learn from horses, and that exploring different disciplines can make us better, more well-rounded riders.

As for photography? Well, that kind of fell into my lap! I’ve always loved it, but I never expected it to become what it has today. And now, one of my favorite things is getting to tell the stories of horses and the people who love them.

But there’s more to me than horses and a camera, so here are a few fun facts:

🍝 Pasta is always a good idea.

🥃 I appreciate a good bourbon.

🐈 My cats have a special place in my heart.

🤪 If we’ve just met, I’m probably a little quiet and reserved. But once I’m comfortable? You’ll get the sarcastic, goofy version of me!

📸 And yes, I have absolutely tripped over my own feet trying to walk backward while photographing. Sometimes getting the shot is a full-body experience. 😂

If there’s one thing I hope you know about me, it’s that I genuinely care about the people and horses I photograph. Every horse has a story, every relationship is different, and I love getting to capture those connections in a way that’s meaningful to you.

I’m so grateful that something I never expected has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people and horses along the way.

Well, look who finally got in front of the camera. 👀📸

New headshots were long overdue, and naturally, a horse had to be involved. Because would it really be me otherwise? 😂

I’m much more comfortable being the one saying “chin down a little,” “look over here,” and “WAIT, THE EARS ARE UP!” than being the one taking directions.

But here we are. Proof that I do, in fact, exist outside of the camera attached to my face. 🤣

So here’s your occasional reminder of the face behind Copper Arrow Photography!

Some horses carry an entire chapter of your life with them. 🤎

For Hannah, that horse is Hawk.

Hannah reached out because she wanted to make sure she had beautiful photographs with Hawk.

And while Hawk may have been the reason for the session, we obviously couldn’t leave Murphy and Juno out. So we spent the evening photographing all three, soaking up that gorgeous fall light.

Because someday, these won’t just be pretty pictures.

They’ll be a way back. 🥹

🐴 Braided or natural? Which would you choose for your horse’s photoshoot?

There’s no wrong answer… but the mane can completely change the feel of your photos.

✨ Natural mane → relaxed, candid, windswept, and authentically you + your horse.

✨ Braided mane → polished, elegant, and perfect when you want that more refined, finished look.

Personally, I love choosing the style based on the story we’re trying to tell. 🤎

Your photoshoot is booked… so should you bathe your horse beforehand? Yes! 👀🐴

Just make sure your horse has plenty of time to dry completely before the session. A clean, dry coat will look much better in photos than a damp one.

Because there’s “barn clean”… and then there’s photoshoot clean. 😂

What’s your horse’s specialty: grass stains, manure stains, or finding the ONLY mud puddle in the pasture? 😂👇
