The line casts into the cold bay
The fishermen ponders if he’ll even catch a bite
He hadn’t fished in years
The sunrise was a perfect time to try and get a bite
But for an hour he sat casting and recasting
Then the fishermen called it quits
For today was not his lucky day
Someday he’ll be lucky

Above the city
Above the oil tanks
Above the Kill
Sound of morning rush on the NJTP heard in the distance

Fishermen cast their line into the cold morning water
Gulls fly looking for breakfast
The cold morning air bites as I stare into the eastern sky
The silloute of the city in front of an orange backdrop

Light creeps above the Island of Staten slowly
Giving an orange glow in the sky
The water calm and blue
Waiting to be illuminated by the great orange light

The orange light rises in the sky
And orange line emerges across the water
Dancing like fire
As it goes higher and higher
The fire grows across the water
Looking like a path from one land to another
The songbirds sing their morning song

Oh the sunrise a beautiful thing
