I’m not one to usually hop on trends, but I’m feeling inspired this week to try new things, step out of my comfort zone, and not worry if a post is going to do well or not.

I’ve spent the last three days in South Dakota learning from one of the best brand and commercial photographers- Maddie ✨ Personal Brand Photographer and Coach!

I will go down believing that investing in your business, whether it’s a coach, a professional website, or brand photos, is the best thing you can do for your business!

Guess what?… it’s not a one time thing.

Do. This. Each. Year. Choose at least one thing that is a little splurge and invest in it.

This year i joined a coaching program. I loved it so much, that when the retreat became available, I was the first to sign up.

I knew I need some female business owner time, especially when all those ladies are brand photographers.

It’s been everything I hoped it would be and more! I feel rejuvenated, inspired, and ready to implement these things into my business.

I’ll share more about the retreat and the updates I’m making later, but for now I want to encourage you to take the chance and invest in something big for your biz. It’s life changing!

There’s something really special about photographing people in the spaces where they actually create.

I love capturing you in the places where ideas are sketched out at midnight, coffee cups pile up, artwork dries on the table, and where the cat inevitably decides they’re now the creative director of the entire operation.

Working with Brianna felt less like “taking brand photos” and more like stepping into her world for a few hours. Every little detail in her space told part of the story. The artwork covering the walls, the paint-stained tables, the notebooks full of sketches, and quiet moments at her desk. None of it needed to be manufactured because it was already real.

During our planning call, we talked through how to make her home studio photograph well without losing the personality of the space. She cleaned, rearranged a few things, and let the character of the room do the rest. Honestly, that’s usually the key. Most people already have more story around them than they realize.

And, this is why this shoot is one of the ones I never stop talking about.

Not because it’s the loudest or most elaborate, but because it feels honest. This shoot reminds me that the strongest brand photos usually come from creating an environment where people can simply be themselves long enough to forget there’s a camera in the room.

Also, shoutout to her cat for giving me one of my favorite images from this entire series. Tiny supervisor energy!

If we haven’t met, hi 👋 I’m Lena, a brand and commercial photographer for creative and adventurous businesses.

I currently live in Alaska, but I am fortunate to travel worldwide for brand photography. I’ve got a few more openings this summer and would love to fill the calendar with brands looking to grow in 2026!

Wellllll… this feels a little scary and exciting. 👀

For the first time in years, I’m having my logo redesigned. The amazing has come up with some brilliant ideas! (Fun fact… I did Shaylyn’s brand photos, so it’s full circle!)

A mentor of mine was reviewing the new media kit I’ve been building for commercial and outdoor brands across the U.S., and they pointed out something I honestly hadn’t thought much about before…

My current logo literally says “Alaska Brand Photographer”.

The funny part is Alaska will always be part of who I am and how I work. The mountains, grit, adventure, storytelling, wild weather, and “let’s hike three miles with camera gear” energy are never leaving. 😂

But as I continue working with corporations, tourism companies, agencies, and outdoor brands nationwide, I realized my branding needs room to grow with me too.

So we started creating something that still feels adventurous and rugged, but also a little more flexible for where this business is headed next.

That’s where you come in because apparently choosing one logo will be my demise.

Option 1?
Option 2?
Option 3?

Tell me which one you’d pick and WHY. I’m genuinely curious what stands out to you because I’ve stared at these for so long that they’re all starting to look like mountain-shaped alphabet soup.

And yes… once I officially choose one, I’m sending a gift card to someone who voted for the final pick! 🤝

When Rebekah first reached out to me, she told me she loves photography and getting creative images of her jewelry.

However, she realized her audience didn’t know how she was. She didn’t have a ton of images of herself working. And on that note, it’s hard to truly understand that every piece of jewelry she sells I handmade in her home studio.

So, we created a session plan that showcased Rebekah (everyone needs a good headshot), her working, and her studio. We also may and snuck in a handful of images of her beautiful office manager! 🐈‍⬛

What I love is that switched out many of her images as soon as she received her sneak peeks! Now, she has the full gallery, and I’m excited to see even more changes and growth!

Outfits 👏🏻 Outfits 👏🏻 Outfits 👏🏻

Most people think brand photos are about the location, the lighting, or the poses.

But the truth is, your outfit is doing a lot more heavy lifting than you think.

Here are 5 ways your clothing choices can make or break your brand session:

1. Your colors should match your brand, not just your closet 💙💛❤️🧡💚

Your colors build familiarity, continuity, and trust over time. If your photos don’t align with the rest of your branding, it becomes harder for people to recognize and remember you. (You’ll see me in blue all year long for a reason.)

2. Dress like the level of client you want to book 👗👚🧥👖👕👔

Your outfit sets expectations before you ever say a word. Casual attracts casual. Elevated attracts elevated. Neither is wrong, but it needs to match your goals and the people you want to work with.

3. If you don’t feel like yourself, it will show 💪

Confidence doesn’t come from the outfit itself. It comes from feeling like you in it. If you never wear it in real life, it probably doesn’t belong in your photos.

If you love black leggings and it fits your brand, wear them. I’m fully on board.

4. One new piece can change everything 🛍️

You’re already investing time, energy, and money into your session. Adding something new that you feel genuinely excited about can shift your entire presence on camera.

5. Layers = more content without more time
🧥🧣🥼

Jackets, sweaters, button-ups. Easy changes, more variety, and a much better use of your session time.

🌟 Bonus if you’re doing a mini session:

Wear a simple base like a tank or bodysuit so you can swap tops quickly. Full outfit changes take way longer than people expect, and you’ll lose valuable shooting time.

Your photos aren’t just about how things look. They’re about how clearly your brand comes across.

And small decisions like this are often the difference between “these are nice”
and “this feels like a business I trust.”

If you’re planning a session and want help pulling outfits together that actually work for your brand, comment “more” and I’ll send you my brand prep g
