There’s something about photographs that feel like her.

Not overly posed. Not trying too hard. Just sunshine, flowers, a little bit of sass, and a whole lot of personality. 🌸

These are the photographs I love most—the ones where you can almost hear the laughter behind them.

Because years from now, I don’t want you to just remember what you looked like.

I want you to remember who you were. 🤍

This is the kind of newborn photography I love.

Not everything has to be perfectly posed. Not every sibling needs to cooperate. Not every photograph needs to look like it came out of a studio.

Sometimes the baby sleeps through everything.

Sometimes the big brother has absolutely no interest in participating.

And sometimes Dad just sits there holding his brand-new baby and no posing is required.

Those are the photographs I want.

Because they’re real.

And years from now, I want this family to remember more than what their baby looked like.

I want them to remember what life looked like during these short moments.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this. 🤍

A few weeks ago I drove to St. Louis to photograph a sweet old friend and her brand-new baby.

And this is exactly why I love in-home newborn sessions.

I don’t need a perfect studio.
I don’t need a perfectly posed baby.
I don’t need everything in the house to be spotless.

I just need a family, their baby, and a little bit of beautiful light.

Because someday this baby won’t fit in Dad’s hands anymore.

The nursery will change.
The dog will get older.
This chair will eventually be replaced.

But they’ll always have these photographs of what home felt like when she was a few weeks old.

That’s the kind of newborn photography I love creating.

And yes, I travel. 🤍
