I looked around at the usual fall photo setups and what is popular online currently and thoughtā€¦ ā€œYeah, Iā€™m gonna do that differently.ā€ šŸ˜‚

So I started collecting old doors. Because apparently thatā€™s what you do when youā€™re a photographer with an idea and absolutely no intention of doing things the normal way.

No cattle trailers. No Rend Lake. Nothing you can book just about anywhere. Just my weird little collection of doors turned into a fall backdrop. šŸ¤Ž Come play with me. āœØ

Most people see a pile of old doors.

I see a photography backdrop. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ“ø

A little creativity, a lot of work, and some questionable decisions laterā€¦ we turned these old doors into a ā€œtemporaryā€ fence for my studio/backyard space this season. šŸ˜‚ I cannot wait to show you everything I plan to do with this.

This is one of my favorite things about what I do. I donā€™t need everything to be brand new or picture-perfect. I love taking something old, forgotten, or completely unexpected and turning it into something beautiful.

Guys, thereā€™s something pretty satisfying about knowing the backdrop in a photo started out as a bunch of old doors. šŸ–¤

Tiny toes, sleepy snuggles, big sister cuddles, and the people who already love this little girl more than words can say.

This is why I love lifestyle newborn sessionsā€”because the best newborn photos donā€™t always happen in a perfectly posed studio. Sometimes theyā€™re right at home, in the middle of the beautiful, messy, ordinary moments youā€™ll miss someday.

I know. I know. Itā€™s September. šŸ˜‚

But if you want Christmas pictures that arenā€™t the same five poses in front of a Christmas tree, now is actually the time to start thinking about them.

I donā€™t do boring Christmas pictures. ā¤ļø

I like giving kids something to DO ā€” bake cookies, decorate a tree, make a mess, play, explore, be weird, be little.

Because someday youā€™re going to look back at these pictures and remember who they were, not just what they looked like.

And yesā€¦ Iā€™m already planning the next ridiculous set. This one is from a few years ago.

A little bit of summer, a whole lot of childhood. šŸ“šŸ‰

The kind of childhood memories I love photographing ā€” messy fingers, watermelon hats, farm stands, big belly laughs, and the dog who absolutely had to be part of the adventure. ā¤ļø

Because someday sheā€™ll be too big for the watermelon hatā€¦
but sheā€™ll still have these.

This is the kind of childhood I want to remember.
