Reminder that photo sessions actually make the best gift idea !!! 🥹🫶🏼

Matt surprised Emily with this cutie family photo session for Mother’s Day and I’m still not over how sweet it was.

Getting to document people in every season of life will never get old for me. Families, couples, engagements, weddings, and aallll the in-between… this job is so much more than just taking photos to me. I get so emotionally invested in my people and their stories and just want to preserve moments that feel like you for you to have forever (and then keep up with your life for years to come).

I’m also so insanely thankful photography has brought such incredible people into my life. Emily and I actually shoot weddings together (heyyy ), so getting to photograph her sweet little family for the first time felt extra special. Watching your friends become moms and build beautiful lives for themselves is the coolest thing ever.

April + May have been busy and full and fulfilling and exhausting in the best way. They’ve been full with sessions, inquiries, calls, meetings, and overall.. so many lovely amazing wonderful people trusting me to capture their stories 🥹

Working through L+T’s April wedding gallery and getting closer and closer to delivery has me feeling all the emotions all over again. Days like this remind me why I love what I do so much.

More than anything, I want your photos to feel like you. I want you to look back on them years from now and remember not just how everything looked, but how it felt to be there in those moments.

Okay apparently being a photographer in 2026 also means becoming a content creator so here I am trying to talk to a camera instead of hiding behind it HAHAHA (and yes the Alani is for emotional support)

But truly… this is the year I’m growing this business for real. I want to photograph more weddings, couples, families, seniors, branding sessions, all the fun in-between moments, all of it. I’ve been doing this business in waves over the years, but I told myself I was going to really dive in this year, and here we are.. diving in.

So hi, I’m Anna. I’m a portrait and wedding photographer based in Roanoke, Virginia and I’m really trying to put myself out there more this year instead of waiting for people to magically find my work. POV: you’re trying to “show yourself working” but really it’s just me third wheeling cute couples telling them they’re cute, firing off 1k photos, and apparently turning down free pizza 🍕😭

Honestly hindsight says I should’ve taken the slice. Pizza date soon .fit? 👀

But for real, sessions like this are my favorite because somewhere within the first 5 minutes it always stops feeling like I’m meeting strangers on an empty parking garage and it just turns into hanging out while I document a fun date night 🥹

tash_9, I am SO proud of you. This year threw a lot your way and you handled it with so much strength, grace, and resilience while still being the sweetest human ever. Love you endlessly and I already know you’re going to do incredible things at GMU!!!

my goal is always to make sessions fun for you. I never want you to feel forced or stiff or unnatural in front of my camera… I just want it to feel like I’m tagging along with you guys hanging out + laughing + doing your thing (and maybe wandering into Lane bc why not would we not when the gates are open?)

TLDR: if it feels like a photoshoot vs us hanging out + going on a adventure, I’m doing it wrong.

this senior season has been lots of fun. thanks for being down to go frolicking across the front quad and letting Murphy spin you in circles until you were dizzy, .14 🥰 y’all are the most fun and I’m so pumped to see all the fun places post-grad life takes you two!!!
