One thing I love about my newborn sessions is that they aren’t just about the newborn.

Of course, we’re going to get all those sweet little details and a few beautiful photos of just your baby, but I don’t want the entire session centered around them.

We’re going to throw the whole family in there, too. Mom, Dad, siblings, everyone gets their time in front of the camera. We’ll capture the cuddles, the little interactions, the excitement of bringing a new baby into the family, and all those moments that make your family yours.

Then, once we’ve captured everyone together, we’ll slow things down and grab a few extra portraits of just your baby.

Because your newborn session should show more than what your baby looked like. It should show who was there loving them from the very beginning.

One of the biggest challenges of being a photographer in a dry, rural area is that I don’t always have the luxury of beautiful mountains, lush greenery, dramatic landscapes, or picture perfect locations.

Sometimes the scenery is flat. Sometimes it’s brown. Sometimes there’s nothing around but dirt, fields, and open sky.

But honestly? That challenge has made me a better photographer.

It’s taught me how to create beautiful images without relying on the location to do all the work. I’ve learned to pay closer attention to light, composition, movement, textures, and the little details that are easy to overlook.

You don’t need a breathtaking location to create breathtaking photographs. You need to know how to see the beauty in what’s already there.

And sometimes, making something beautiful out of nothing is the best creative challenge of all.

Your venue is more than the setting for your wedding day. It becomes part of the visual story.

Every detail matters: the architecture, walls, windows, flooring, chandeliers, artwork, furnishings, and even the quality and direction of the light.

A thoughtfully designed space can create photographs that feel timeless, refined, and intentional. Bold interiors can feel editorial and dramatic. Natural light can create softness and dimension that artificial light simply can’t replicate.

When choosing your venue, don’t only envision the ceremony and reception. Imagine yourself getting ready there. Picture your portraits, family photographs, and the quiet in-between moments.

Look at the bridal suite. Notice the windows. Pay attention to the walls, ceilings, corners, and what will appear in the background of your photographs.

Because years from now, you won’t just remember how beautiful your venue was in person.

You’ll remember how beautifully it became part of your story.

One of the greatest gifts of being a photographer is the people who trust me to document their lives. 🤍

Every family, couple, milestone, and season I’m invited into means more to me than just another session on my calendar. I get to witness the little moments, the big moments, the laughter, the love, and the personalities that make each of you so special.

Thank you for choosing me, trusting my vision, allowing me to capture your memories, and continuing to come back year after year. Your support of my business means more than you probably realize, and I’m genuinely so thankful for every single client who has allowed me to be a small part of their story.

I’ll never take it for granted that you trust me with the moments you’ll want to remember forever.

One thing I always encourage clients to consider when choosing a session date is that the location is only part of the final look. The time of day and time of year can completely change the way that same location photographs.

The exact same spot can have soft, dreamy morning light in one session and warm, golden, glowy light in the evening. In one season, you may have lush green trees and bright colors, while a few months later, that same location can have warm fall tones, bare trees, or a completely different atmosphere.

Even the direction of the sun can change the way we use a location. Shadows, highlights, colors, and the overall mood of your images are all affected by when we photograph.

So if you’ve fallen in love with a location but have seen someone else’s photos there and thought, “I want mine to look like that,” remember that the date and time of your session matter just as much as the location itself.

As your photographer, I’m not just choosing a pretty spot—I’m considering the light, season, colors, and timing to create images that feel intentional and fit the vision you have for your session.

Sometimes you don’t need a new location to get a completely different look. You just need a different time of day or time of year.

There are some things in life that are worth investing in, and your memories are one of them.

When you invest in professional photography, you aren’t just paying for a gallery of pretty pictures. You’re investing in the ability to freeze a season of your life that you will never get back.

The tiny details. The way your children look at you. Their little personalities. The way your family laughs together. The way your baby reaches for your hand. The love between you and your spouse. The home, the people, and the life you’ve built together in this exact season.

Years from now, the things that felt ordinary today may become some of your most treasured memories.

That’s why quality matters. Professional photographs are meant to last, not just on your phone, but in your home, in albums, and in the hands of your children someday. There is something so special about being able to look back and truly feel a moment through a photograph.

You may not always remember what everyone was wearing or exactly what you did that day, but you’ll remember the feeling when you look at those images.

So if you’ve been debating whether professional photos are worth the investment, let this be your reminder: your memories are worth investing in.

You deserve photographs that capture more than what you looked like. You deserve photographs that tell your story, preserve your season, and give you something beautiful to hold onto for years to come.

Because one day, these won’t just be photos from a session.

They’ll be the photographs your family looks back on and says, “Remember when we were like this?”

Invest in the memories. Print the photos. Hang them on your walls. Make the album. Let your children grow up surrounded by photographs of the people and moments that made their childhood special.

The season may be temporary, but the photographs can last forever.

If you’ve been wanting to book a fall session or need updated photos for your holiday cards, now is the time to get on my calendar!

Fall is one of the busiest times of the year for sessions, and dates tend to fill quickly. I only have a limited number of openings available, so I recommend booking sooner rather than waiting until the last minute and risking the dates you need being unavailable.

Whether you’re wanting updated family photos, new portraits, or images for your holiday cards, I’d love to capture this season for you. 🤎

Fall dates are booking now, reach out to reserve your spot before the calendar fills!

Turning ONE is a pretty big deal, and it deserves to be documented.

The first year goes by in the blink of an eye. One minute you’re holding your tiny newborn, and the next they’re standing on their own, covered in cake, with a personality bigger than you could have imagined.

First birthday photos aren’t just about getting a picture of the cake or a cute outfit. They’re about freezing this exact little person in time, their expressions, their tiny hands, their favorite smiles, and all the little details you know will change before you realize it.

Because years from now, these photos won’t just remind you that they turned one. They’ll take you right back to who they were at one. And that’s what makes these milestones so worth documenting.

Fall is right around the corner and that means holiday sessions will be here before we know it! If you’re hoping to have updated family photos, beautiful gifts for grandparents, or memories to tuck into your holiday cards, now is the time to get on the calendar.

My fall dates tend to fill quickly, and once the holiday rush begins, there’s only so much room on the calendar. Don’t wait until November to think about your photos, let’s plan ahead so you can enjoy the season knowing your session is already booked.

Message me to reserve your fall or holiday session before the dates are gone!

One of the easiest ways to make your photos feel more timeless? Choose your outfits with the photos in mind.

Instead of everyone wearing the exact same color, think about choosing a soft, cohesive color palette with a mix of textures and tones. Neutrals, earthy shades, and subtle patterns photograph beautifully and keep the focus where it belongs, on your family.

I also recommend choosing pieces that you feel comfortable and confident in. Flowy dresses, linen textures, soft knits, and classic pieces tend to photograph beautifully because they add movement and dimension without distracting from the people wearing them.

And most importantly, don’t wait until the night before your session. Lay everything out together beforehand and look at the outfits as a whole.

Your goal isn’t for everyone to match perfectly, it’s for everything to feel like it belongs together.
