This is not photography related but out of curiosity how many of y’all are homesteaders, farmers, gardeners, or small business owners!

Whether you raise livestock, grow your own food, sell farm-fresh eggs, make homemade goods or have a little homestead of your own, I want to hear about it because my family and I would LOVE to begin doing this ourselves.

What do you produce, grow, raise, or sell?

Do you sell anything to the public? Are you just getting started, or have you been doing it for years? I’m so curious on what and how others are doing it!

Also, don’t forget to share your business page, too, if you have one. I’d love to see what everyone is doing, discover some local farms and small businesses, and connect with more folks who appreciate this kind of lifestyle🫶

Sometimes, as photographers, I think we get so wrapped up in being consistent that we forget to be creative.

We work hard to develop a recognizable style. We choose our colors, our tones, our presets, our editing styles and that consistency is part of what our clients hire us for. They see our work and know what they’re going to get.

But photography is also an art.
And art is supposed to evolve.

It’s okay to step outside of our normal editing style. It’s okay to play with different colors, different tones, different presets, different lighting and different moods. It’s okay to experiment with something that may not look like everything else in our portfolio.

Sometimes creativity comes from breaking our own rules and seeing where it takes us.

I think we can get so focused on creating a brand that we forget to create art.

So here’s your reminder give yourself permission to play. Try the preset you normally wouldn’t. Push the colors a little differently. Edit something moodier. Try something softer. Try something completely outside your comfort zone.

You might just discover a whole new side of your creativity!!
