“Life moves pretty fast, and if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
But seriously, we know all too well what Ferris Bueller was trying to say, especially when we apply it to raising children. So this one in particular hits especially hard for me, as my youngest is quickly hitting all of MY ‘lasts’ (and his firsts). For the last few years I’ve had to experience my last baby snuggles, last first steps, last losing their first tooth, last first day of kindergarten, last kindergarten graduate, and so many more lasts that will be happening way too fast to my liking. All we can do is hit the pause button on the little unimportant things in life that don’t deserve our attention, and start focusing our energy on the things that in fifty years will mean the most to us and our children. It’s time to leave the hustle culture behind and bring the ‘be in the moment’ culture back in style. Because it’s moments like these that need to be cherished while they are happening🧡.
