TOYOTA RACING leads the manufacturers’ World Championship ahead of Lone Star Le Mans at COTA, fifth round of FIA WEC. Both TR010 Hybrid teams scored two double podiums so far. At Imola, Buemi, Hartley and Hirakawa started the 2026 season with a win in #8 Toyota TR010 HYBRID while sister #7 ended third. The 499Ps fielded by the official Ferrari – AF Corse team and the #83 car entered by the AF Corse will tackle Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of the Americas for a six-hour race on Sunday 6 September. Ferrari sits third in the World Manufacturers’ Championship. The Maranello squad enjoyed success during the previous two seasons at COTA with two pole positions ( #51 crew in 2024 and the #83 in 2025), a race win in 2024 with #83 crew of Yifei Ye, Robert Kubica and Robert Shwartzman and a P2 in 2025 with Fuoco, Molina and Nielsen in the #50. After post race scrutiny late Sunday, Pietro Fittipaldi's driving time, in the #10 Vector Sport Oreca which finished second, was found by stewards to have not met the 40-minute drive time requirement by 1 minute, 15.791 seconds.
The team was therefore given a time penalty of 1 minute and 50.791 seconds, which has dropped the British squad to a 17th place finish overall (9th in LMP2), moving the #29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca to a runner-up finish and promoting the the pole-sitting #18 IDEC Sport Oreca of Jamie Chadwick, Laurents Hoerr and Valerio Rinicella to third place and ultimately completed the podium.
