Purposeful Photography Adventures with Lisa Mize
“Creating the extraordinary through YOUR lens.” Illnesses caused me to stop living… I was missing life. I missed too many sunrises, too many sunsets, and too much in between. Through blessings, my illnesses are mostly under control, and now I am living. My burning passion for photography and living an adventuress life is a great combination! Anythin

g outdoors: kayaking down a waterway, hiking along endless trails, listening to the waves crash on the beach while sleeping, biking a gorgeous trail, or just casting off our lines on our boat we live on and see where Puget Sound takes us, but I am doing it all, camera in hand! I love sharing what I see, feel, and experience! I want to inspire others to seek out beautiful places from all over the world! My greatest achievements are my five amazing children, but if I can fan a small fire that is burning inside of you through the images you see in my photographs, THAT will be a wonderful achievement indeed!

Dreaming of the Dolomites, Italy! John Mize and I hiked "hut to hut" or "refugio to refugio"! Probably the MOST beautiful place I have ever been, plus it was the HARDEST thing I have ever done physically! I can't wait to do it again!!! Have you ever been or is it on your list?

I will return to sharing my trip to British Columbia in July shortly, but I wanted to share these sunset images from Pearrygin Lake in Winthrop where I ended my July photography adventure! This happened to be a plan B from my original adventure, but wow! What a surprisingly happy evening for sure! As you click through, you will see where I started to get creative with my camera! I did a little bit longer exposures and then tried some abstracts with the amazingness that was in front of me. I did some camera panning (moving my camera either left or right while the shutter was open) and also some zoom techniques (turning my camera lens either out or in to cause a spiral type look). Just some fun times being creative!

On my hike to find a marsh by my campground in BC, I spotted this song sparrow! I quickly picked up my camera and started photographing! As I zoomed in, I realized it had a dragonfly in its mouth or two dragonflies?!!! It flew from an old tree to another old stump and then onto some branches! Soon through the viewfinder, I could see less and less of the dragonflies! The song sparrow didn't seem to mind me being there!
For my photographer friends: I was photographing with my 200-500mm lens so I was far enough away! The sun was just about set and it was getting pretty dusky so getting my settings correct was a must! Pushing my ISO and using denoise in post processing made these images possible!
