Moonset and sunrise this morning. Fun fact: on a full moon, the moon and sun are directly opposite each other in the sky. This means that moonrise and sunset happen at nearly the same time, as do moonset and sunrise. Makes for a fun project to try and shoot them both.

What a gorgeous week. These mountains have probably had their last major snow of the season, so I've been getting out for sunrise and sunset to grab some of that soft light on the snow before it gets too patchy.

Olympics over Seattle, part 2/3. I love this city and these mountains!
As I work on new things, it's fun to look back on this piece that really started it all. It's pretty much 100% inspired by the late Will Landon.
I might be doing an extension of this piece which continues farther South, or something that covers the city skyline as it's changed (dramatically) over time. Any interest?

I'm so thankful for my favorite photo subjects: sky, mountains, friends. I'm thankful that folks have chosen to bring my work into their homes 😍 and I'm thankful for all those who take and share great photographs that inspire me.
This is segment 1 of one of my earliest pieces, inspired by Will Landon's classic pano from a similar angle. He captured the moonset, I went with the sunset... I like 'em both. Also his first version was taken in 1983 with a camera that was 3 feet long and required multiple tripods to keep it steady (dig up his site for a pic. It's wild!) Things have changed a bit - in 2017 I was standing on my car and my camera was a bit smaller - but I like to think the inspiration is largely the same.

I love the North Cascades! Since I started making labeled panoramas of the Pacific Northwest, this piece has been my #1 request, and now it's here. Thanks for the continued requests and feedback along the way - keep it coming!
Prints and closeups are on my site, and as always, drop me a line if you want something special:

The Panoramic 360° print of the expansive view from the peak of Sahale Mountain, with 90+ peaks in the North Cascades labeled. Several sizes and mounting available.

Boy, it's good to finally be back in the mountains!! Too many clouds for a big panorama today, but swipe for a mini-pano anyway.

It's almost time... Time to fall into the fluffy white powder, get dumped on by trees, try to throw a too-dry snowball and have it explode in your face. Can't wait. Anyone else psyched?

When it's rainy out and your jacket is soaked already... That's still no excuse not to hike. But hey, sometimes the indoors just calls more than the outdoors, right?
The updated Cascades from Seattle above a simulated couch is the latest in our series of "what prints look like above a couch" 😅. This would be a 20"x40" float mounted print.
