Hawks. It started with my husband - he was seeing them from time to time, seemingly at the most perfect times. Sometimes it was as an obvious answer from the Lord to a prayer of his, and other times as if God was just letting him know that He was close.
Shortly after I began to see them. Chucking it up to coincidence, I didn’t think much of it. I believed and knew God shows up in many ways in our lives, so I kept it in the back of my head, and anytime I saw one- I was overwhelmed with gratitude.
On our drive to SC, (for those that don’t know, we drove out last weekend of June and have already made it), I kept seeing them everywhere.
On the last day as we were driving through the Appalachian mountains (I thought Cascades were tough), it seemed like the winding road wasn’t going to ever end. Both V and I were towing heavy loads. I kept praying and asking for help, courage and strength to get through it.
When we finally got through the toughest part, we had a minute to pull over and take a break. Shake off the nerves. The white knuckling of the steering wheel and the tense shoulders, we could finally relax. At that exact moment, this hawk appeared. Flying over us. Over and over again. One fly over after the next. I knew our Lord was saying, “Hey, I see you. I’m with you”.
We both breathed deep and cried our gratitude to our Lord. He is in everything and everywhere. We just need to keep our eyes open. Keep our eyes on Him and His goodness. Hard days are always around the corner, we don’t have a promise of easy life, but His faithfulness remains.
“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Duet 31:8
“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!”
Luke 12:24
