T H E . S U G A R Y . S M E L L . O F . S P R I N G T I M E // Paradise, CA; Spring 2012 // Lupine has been one of my absolute favourite flowers since shooting this specific roll of film so many years ago now. I’m always excited to see it and it always reminds me of this picture which in turn fills me with joy 🥰

This was one of the most special and magical things about growing up and living in Paradise, just being able to go out in my ‘backyard’ (aka not exactly public property 😅) and to interact with nature in a creative capacity and to make beautiful portraits of/with her 💖

I took a very similar version of this picture which is more in focus and I prefer the framing of it, but I really love the overall vibe of this image more. It’s out of focus and a little off-kilter, but in an almost dreamy way, and in my mind it kind of pays homage to the French principle of what I remember boiling down to as ‘just take the picture’.

No matter if the image is poorly framed or out of focus or overexposed, take the picture anyway. It still captures the moment even if it’s not entirely how you intended to do so, and in its own way it’s just as magical and beautiful as a ‘perfect shot’.

(I also cannot remember exactly what this idea is called, I just remember watching a video and learning about it in my high school photo class 😅😋)

W I S H I N G . Y O U . T H E . B E S T // Seattle, WA; November 2024 // Going to had been on my bucket list since 2014 or ‘15 when and Campfire OK released a video of them playing their song ‘Wishing You The Best’ on top of the tables at Oddfellow’s, and and I instantly became obsessed with the song and going there for brunch made my bucket list hahaha

I did manage to make it there for lunch with once, but brunch it was not haha. When and I went to Seattle in November 2024 it was at the top of our to-do list, and I’m happy to report that it met, and more than exceeded, all of my expectations 🥰 We wandered into afterward which was also most lovely ☺️

I don’t have much to say tonight other than I love this song and I love this album, and I love listening to it every December, and I felt it only fitting to pair it with today’s photo, the last in my current soup series 😊

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season 🥳💖✨

D A R K . B L U E // Chico, CA; July 2025 // ‘Dark Blue’ by was my ✨depression song✨ in high school, which I am literally just tonight realizing was actually my feel-good song hahaha. I would listen to it on repeat whenever I was feeling down, it was at the top of my Top 25 Most Played on my iPod for yearrrrrs, and that piano intro still never fails to bring me joy 🥰

Photo from my crape myrtle souped expired roll ✨

Q U I E T . F A D E // July 2025; Chico, CA // Woo! Successful film soup! I took some portraits of several crape myrtles throughout our apartment complex on an expired roll of Kodak Gold from the early/mid-aughts using my Minolta I got on eBay earlier this year (whose shutter issue I still need to figure out but I am using artistically in the meantime 😋), then came home and made a film soup using a crape myrtle flower from each of the trees I took pictures of and a little dishsoap, and voila! 😊

I was seriously so thrilled when I recently got all my souped photos back from , but this roll was something special ✨✨✨ I will absolutely be sharing more because I’m obsessed with them 😋😇

S Y N C H R O N I C I T Y // Flying over the Cascades on my way to Montana; July 2025 // I’ve reallllllllly been leaning into the magical lately, and the more I learn the more I want to know. We ✨are✨ magic, and we are surrounded by magic, it sometimes takes just a lil’ perspective shift to recognize it ☺️

Photography has always been magical to me, not just chemically but also spiritually. And I do not mean ‘spiritual’ in the religious sense, but in the sense that the act of creating fills my soul and makes me feel connected to the earth, to others, to the universe. I could wax poetic about it for ages, but I’ll just leave it at that I am so grateful to have serendipitously fallen into photo during high school, almost like it was meant to be 😉

This photo isn’t something I would normally post (not for any particular reason, just out of the realm of my usual aesthetic on here I guess haha), but I really love it. I’m posting it upside down because I like the initial uncertainty of what you’re looking at before recognizing it as an airplane wing (almost like a change in perspective can alter your perception 😋)

H O M E // Butte Creek Canyon/Paradise from Lookout Point; March 2025 // Back in March I took a day off from work and spent my morning driving around Paradise, visiting most of the places I had once lived, taking pictures and paying tribute to/mourning those past lives.
Looking back, it’s definitely one of my top 10 days this year; the weather was cool and damp, partly cloudly, I saw a variety of really neat animals including a family of vultures and a surprise salamander, and I just spent my time enjoying and capturing the nature and beauty of the place I’ll always call home 💗💗💗
