Pygmy Owl Sighting! Hiking in the North Cascades a couple days ago, I spotted this on top of a dead snag just feet from the trail. He flew a short distance away into a beautiful sunlit tree. We heard owl vocalizations on the way back down in the same area. The highlight of my day, for sure! 🦉

Colorado 14er #28: South Maroon Peak. 14163’ class 3 climb with exposure and loose rock. The summit was in the clouds but the views going up were heavenly. We didn’t rope up for this one, but opted for a guide due to the hazards of getting even a little off route in this terrain. Indeed, while we were out there a climber unfortunately got off route and fell to his death. Thanks Nate from Aspen Expeditions Aspen Expeditions Worldwide for keeping us safe up there. 🙏
