Stafford Squier Photography

Stafford Squier Photography Authentic images that tell the story of "you" I have been shooting people, places, and things for over thirty years. I am a sensitive listener and observer.

On my journey as an artist, I have come to a simple understanding. Regardless of the subject matter, great photography is storytelling. Compelling imagery captures a moment and reveals that moment through emotion, story, composition, and craft. A great picture creates an intimate relationship with the viewer that suspends time and envelopes the viewer in the story. I try not to wax poetically abou

t capturing someone's essence. While this may be possible, I think who we are is readily accessible, if we take the time to connect. I pick up on the visual nuances that make you unique and translate this into compelling imagery that tells your story. Stafford Squier

Answer: The issue is the ending lost tension. It needs to stay suggestive, but clearer.

Revision:

Somewhere near my brother’s place,
where the ground remembers hands
and the trees forget them.

I walked the edge of it,
where order falls into shadow,
and the trees hold their silence.

I shot this in Seattle years ago. In worn hands, she holds two signs—portraits of Mandela and King. Wrapped in the flag, quiet among others. This is the America I believe in. The one that struggles, breaks, and keeps going. The one that, when pushed, bends toward its better nature. Strip back the noise and the hate, and there we are, strong hearts, vibrating at the frequency of love.

Still amazed by the vibrant greenery around me 🌿 Feeling so grateful to be back in the lush Pacific Northwest after spending years in the arid landscapes of the southwest and Texas. Nature’s beauty truly knows no bounds! 🌲

It may sound sentimental—but so be it. Sometimes we need help, and when we’re fortunate, it comes in the form of a brother. I’m deeply grateful to my brother Les, who offered me the gift of working alongside him to clear his land. The labor, the shared silence, the laughter, and the quiet power of fire—all of it was a kind of communion. None of it is lost on me.

I hit the jackpot when I was adopted into the Squier family in 1965.

Sometimes acquaintances ask if I’ve ever wanted to search for my “real” mother. That question always confuses me—because I know exactly who my mother is.

Thanks for the lessons, the wisdom, and the love.

After six years in Texas and New Mexico, I’m happy to be back in the Skagit Valley. The greens are so vivid it almost feels surreal. When I lived in the PNW before, it was easy to take this lushness for granted—but now, I see it with new eyes. Grateful for the fresh perspective.
