Now that it's September, it's time for Fall minis! These short sessions my favorite for couples, families, fur babies - the whole gamut. I'm looking at two weekends in October and am so very excited to photograph you amongst the forest and crunchy leaves. Click that link in bio to save your spot.

I think this one deserves a permanent spot on my grid. That rainbow flair, the softness of it all, and the beauty that is Nicole juuuuust does it for me. Hope you’re having a lovely summer, and embracing all the drama that is Leo szn.

The last few months have swirled past me in the fastest time lapse I’ve ever experienced. There’s still a lot I haven’t processed, and one day, the words will find me and I’ll attempt to make sense of it all. For now, I’m here. Lots of milk stained sheets, explosive feelings, and piecemeal to-do lists. This is 3 months postpartum with a 4.5 year old going on 14. And today, I’ve dressed my babies in their matching Christmas pjs. While this photo might make it seem like it’s rainbows and butterflies, rest assured - none of this is perfect. This ‘shoot’ lasted a whole 12 minutes and most days, I’m overstimulated by all the things. Even still, I can say without any hesitation that these children are, hands down, the best gifts I’ve ever received. They make every holiday better and I’m infinitely grateful I get to be their mother.

I hope you get to be warm, cozy and full of food today and everyday. Happy everything to you, and you.

Summertime family photos in the tall grass and early morning light beams are my favorite. Plus, this little babe was so mellow with the sparkliest eyes and the best smile. Have you ever been around a baby that seems wise beyond their years? This was one of those babies. I can't wait to watch you grow, little Patrick.

Turns out -- life is about to get all sorts of wild this September!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mira completely rewired my heart, my ego, and just about everything in between as I grew into becoming her mama.

And now, we're here, doubling down. Seasoned and still very wide eyed. Full and growing. Pinching pennies and so very love drunk. 🤍

If I was to describe this morning, I'd say that it was beautifully calm and quiet and immersive. I'd also say we were reminded that we were in nature because the bugs and buzzy ear huggers were EAGER to say hello.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All that to say, this photoshoot filled up my cup. It reminded me of how much I love being behind the lens. I get to catch the sun dancing on your skin and freeze the way wind flutters through your hair and your clothes. The part I love the most though? Seeing your spirit take center stage. The part of you that's ready to be seen. That's the sweetness for me.

Last week, I met the most wonderful family and I couldn't get enough of them. They were affectionate, full of laughs and so at ease with one another. More often than not, my family sessions are with littles but when I get older kids in the mix, it's always so sweet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember being in my early 20s and what it was like to spend time with my parents. I loved it so much. Something shifted where I could see them outside of being my parents while they trusted me in a new way. They became curious about music and movies I loved, and gave me space to make my own choices and expand. It felt so special and pure to have those years with them in that way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Deep down, I must have known that it wouldn't last long, knowing my mother was sick. Knowing one day that there would be grandkids and partners in the mix, shifting the dynamics. Even now, I wish I could go back and soak it all up again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It really was such a sweet spot in life that I'll savor for the rest of my days. And now, to be a bystander and see one of my favorite chapters open up for the families I work with, it gives me the warmest, most tender, indescribable feeling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's just one of the many reasons that I love what I do. It's the closest thing to bottling up a moment in time, and I'm so here for it. Camera at the ready.

Lately, I'm finding myself swept away in the simplest moments.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way my bath mat feels on my feet as I'm stepping out of the shower. The boldness of the morning sun as it spills into the kitchen window. Hearing a new song for the first time and being comforted by its knowing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's that whole turning towards the seemingly simple, routine moments that make living this life so sweet. Feeling alive can manifest in many ways. Sometimes it's a bursting and splashy feeling, but what I've found is that it's the intentionality, and the stillness and the quiet that fuel me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I actually recently stumbled onto this podcast and the incredible poet Marilyn Nelson was interviewed. She somehow read my mind and summed this up perfectly:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
'And that’s why reading poetry, reading it alone silently takes us someplace where we can’t get ordinarily. Poetry opens us to this otherness that exists within us. In any case, I think poetry and the silence of the inner life are related, are connected and that — don’t you think? You read a poem, and you say, 'Ah.' And then you listen to what it brings out inside of you. And what it is is not words; it’s silence.'
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope that gives you a sense of peace and calm and grounding too.

Whenever I come home from being away, the first thing that hits me is the scent. The comforting smell of home.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me, it's the basmati rice on the stove, night blooming jasmine and lavender soap.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Coming home also tells my brain that it's time for no bra and no hard pants. It means opening the fridge, taking out snacks and having a small bite before cooking a meal. It also means, dumping out all my dirty clothes into the wash, and unpacking all the things so that I can relish in home life ASAP.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does coming home look like to you? Are you in camp unpack ASAP or do you let your bag unpack itself over time?

The next time you see a photo of us on the grid, we'll be officially married! And maybe not so serious 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I recently heard something that was like, 'Whoever said not to go to bed angry, is wrong! Sometimes you just need to sleep on it.' And think I agree with this. I love to reach a decisive point in an arguement or conversation but sometimes, the heat needs to simmer and some self-regulation can be good for both parties.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you think? Is this a no-no for you and your person? I'd love to know what your marriage words of wisdom are. 👇🏼

With our date coming up, I can't help but go back to my favorite elopement of all time with these two loves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Isn't there something so wonderful about being in the company of two people who are so in love? That fresh, we-just-got-married energy is so pure and enveloping.
