What to say when the cutest most loving proposal happens in front of your eyes? You don't say anything, you just geek out behind the camera with them!!

K & K got engaged on a beautiful (and partially rainy) August day at Mount Rainier (Tahoma) National Park! K & I were watching the weather like a hawk and just kept crossing all of our limbs that the mountain would come out. It was patchy rain when we got there and my weather apps kept saying it would pass. When I arrived, Tahoma was hiding a smidge, but she was still there.

We had a plan for them to have a little picnic on a bench and I'd walk past them so we knew we were in the same location together. After giving each other the side eye, we eventually met up where I was just a hiker, taking my own cell phone pics on the trail because the MOUNTAIN AND THE SUN HAD JUST COME OUT. Even though I pretended to be in awe, there was no acting there.

K asked me if I could take a picture of them because the view was incredible. And I of course obliged ad then asked if they wanted one facing the mountain too! They said yes and as soon as they turned I pulled out my camera and they proposed to each other.

K told me in our planning she was planning on carrying both rings. As a couple they decided one of them would propose first and then the other would propose right after, so a double proposal would happen!

She was like "I think she knows." And I was like to be honest, a lot of people have in inkling, but the moment is still always a surprise and always still so memorable. And that's the exact reaction we got out her partner. She had no idea! She just thought they were going for a cute jaunt on some easy trails.

After K proposed (second K) it was just hugs, kisses, laughter and adventure all around. And you know what? My girl Tahoma came out and gave them the best sunset we could have asked for.

One truly funny moment was when they were looking at the mountain and they were like "Imagine if that was a volcano." I stopped dead in my tracks and was like... "It is!" They were like "no stop playing that's not true." They thought they were jokingly gaslighting each other when in fact I got to chime in and be like... "n

The sweetest couple and the sweetest day!

What happens when you get 3 wisconsinites together for an elopement? Opes, you betchas, and wisconsin culture all around! H & D traveled in from Wisconsin with their family, to get married on Mount Tahoma.

Tahoma means mother of all waters and thats exactly what these two got to experience. From moody clouds to breath taking meadows, this mother gave us her all.

They got ready seperatly at a local airbnb, adorned with the coolest stained glass. And then had a first look before heading up the mountain! My favorite thing to see as a photographer is how couples look at each other. D looks on H with such love and care. It makes me so happy for them!!

And then we had fun 😁 because the park was busy i had walkie talkies for us and the guests made sure to keep H & D entertained while we waited in line.

Once up top, we hiked into their spot and got them married!! Mount tahoma stayed hidden this entire time so we focused on just them and crossed our fingers the mountain would peak out later.

And you know what??? She did!! While exploring during their hike we got to see large glimpses of her and as we drove out she fully came out. We literally pulled over at an over look because the clouds had passed and we got a full view on our drive down the mtn to their dinner.

We arrived just as the sun set at their parents airbnb where their private chef cooked them the most delicious dinner. They ate by lantern light as the stars came out!

We didn't stay for sunset and you know it was such a vibe having some harsher light with their elegant fits. The wind was a main character blowing her cape around too. Sometimes the timing doesn't make sense and what matters more is what a couple wants to experience rather than what can be the traditionally most pretty for photos.

Overall, obsessed us an understantement!!

It never ceases to amaze me how people find me. R & B found me because one of my proposal videos on tik tok went viral and she saw it and was like "her, we need her to help us with our elopement!"

The biggest wants from them were time alone and time with their kids. Their kids are their world but also they also hadn't had adult time in a while so we made all if the above happen for them. 

We started off at their home where they got ready surrounded by kids and family. It was a morning of kids running around, playing with their toys, and just general chaos that kids bring. For being a stranger their kids definitely welcomed me very quickly into their space. As soon as R was dressed, her daughters became giddy and thought she was the most beautiful princess.

R & B then had a first look on their property, surrounded by trees. They leaned into black witchy vibes! They actually had a bet going that if she didn't cave and showed him or told him about her dress she would win. And she did!! Also he's wearing a star wars ring with thr millennium falcon etched into it!

After saying good bye to family we hopped in the car and drove to a local state park where we got tall old forest growth and ferns everywhere.  We hiked in for their ceremony with just their friend and got them the privacy they wanted!

We then stopped at a waterfalll for more portraits and i had them just stop and listen to the water. At one point B made a comment on how R was his queen and she deserved the world and got on his knee to give her praise. Friends I am so lucky to photograph so many green flag guys!!

And then we headed off for the main event. A helicopter ride!! B is a pilot and this was a other big part of their relatioship- him flying them cool places. he and another pilot took turns taking us up on an incredible adventure above the puget sound. I
ugh it was so cool! Im so grateful my couple wanted me to come up with them and document their time! It was my first heli ride!!

We finished with stop at the beach to see sunset, and had their first dance in the woods lit by lanterns. what a perfect day if family time and adult time! R & B were so wonderful, im obsessed!!

WORK WITH A PHOTOG WHO PLANS FOR THE UNEXPECTED

So much of elopememts is building in time for unexpected experiences in nature. A traditional photographer will just focus on the photos and not let you enjoy this. I'm a photographer who specifically invites you to sit down and enjoy the view so you experience this as much as get photos of it. AND my timeliness reflect this! For me your experience matters just as much as the photos!

If you feel rushed, you'll look back on your photos with that feeling. But if you sat and listened to loons and then you saw a photo of this you'd be like omg I remember that, that was so cool!
