The view I had while waiting for .j_photo to arrive for some nighttime milky way and perseids shooting. The moisture all throughout the valley made for a really gorgeous sunset.

This is an image that I wasn't quite sure would work when I was taking it. The fog was so thick, that I could only make out fleeting glimpses of the opposite side of the valley. But after sitting on this one for a while, I think I've decided that I like how the image makes you stop for a moment to figure out what's happening. Every time I look at it, I see some new detail.

Just got back from a trip to the Olympic National Park where we used our new tent for the first time. What a game changer for times where car camping is practical and you want to be able to set up quickly. Loving this purchase so far!

An epic sunset last night at Mount Rainier National Park! The trail was so socked in with dense clouds that I just about gave up hope that I'd get ANY images, much less good ones. Maybe 100 feet of visibility maximum.

Thankfully, I stuck it out, and whoo boy! Out of nowhere, there was a brief window of a sunset explosion. I just stopped where I was on the trail and frantically grabbed as many images as I could. Made the whole hike worth it!

Last night's Sturgeon Moon.

The funny thing about this image is that I took it handheld at 200mm around 3 AM... from my driveway, after at night out at Mount Rainier National Park (where the image I originally had in mind didn't work out - though I did get some good images in general).

Sometimes, taking what you think will be a "throwaway" image is still worthwhile - storage is cheap and you never know what you'll like when you have a chance to reflect later.

After my first night visiting Mt. St. Helens for some astro landscapes, I got my files home and was pretty disappointed... it was very windy and what was hard to see in the moment was how much dust was being kicked up all around the mountain, making Portland's gross sodium colored light pollution even more gross lol

After a fresh look at the files, I realized that all the "atmosphere" ended up presenting a bit of an opportunity so I went ahead and edited them. Here's one of the images I like.
