A fun day at the pumpkin patch in Arlington! With a little BTS from Grandma’s cell phone. Thank you Gail Clark!

I don’t usually - in fact I’m pretty sure NEVER - have been to a pumpkin farm this early in the season where there are lots of big, orange pumpkins laying in the patch. Usually we get there the week before Halloween, when the patch is usually a mud pit and most of the pumpkins are rotted, so this was a really pleasant switch and made for a fun afternoon mini family photo session. As I was walking down the street one day . . .

Taken while on recess from Jury Duty.
Waiting for nearly 3 hours to return to the courtroom to determine who was the offending party in a matter of the heart. I am by no means a legal authority but the incident seemed so minimal in scope and in respect to what we hear to be actual crimes. Once the facts were presented, there wasn’t anything that rose to the level of criminal offense. Disappointing on many levels, really. This case seemed to have no validity in being escalated to a trial. The outcome was a fast "not guilty" in the deliberation room. The funny thing, wondering if the other jurors around me may not have the same kind of thinking in the matter because of our diverse ages. In reality, we all immediately came to the same conclusions. I was heartened very much by that kind of common sense.

As for the case itself, if it hadn't been for a persistent witness (who seemed to absolutely revel in her 15 minutes of drama testifying), and she was the ONLY witness (other than the defendant). If not for her determined participation in the event, all of the resources, time and money consumed to get to trial (all court provided attys) would not have been wasted.

In short, this woman who said she was a scientist, maybe late 30's, with multi colored hair, driving home alone. At 7:30am, streets she said were rather quiet for a weekday. She sees two men fighting, one man grabbing at the throat of the other, one handed, not choking, but pushing. She pulls over and asks that one if he needs a ride. The other man, the 'victim' was body blocking to keep the man from leaving him. Within a few minutes, she invites both men to get in her car. A seemingly unreal scenario but there it was.

Called up by prosecution but made a stronger case for the defendant, honestly, it was unclear who's witness she actually supported.

The "victim," claimed at least three times under oath that he did not want the police involved.

Prosecution was unable to get the responding officers to show up to the trial.

Does ANYBODY REALLY KNOW what time it is? Does anybody really care? (about MY time).

Finding an adapter for my discontinued strobe head has prevented me from using some clever lighting. I found a goofy little $15 adapter that I thought could work. To my delight, it does work! I fastened in my strobe head and attached the strip soft box and voila! I now have the light I want. This makes me so happy.

One of my favorite activities is definitely not gardening. Altho, once I get started it is hard to stop. One hour turns into three pretty fast.

I pull these out regularly, I call them bluebells but I know they are some kind of hyacinth, not my favorite. They populate wherever I don't want them, like weeds. I suppose, if my neighbors saw me (and how could they miss me on that ridge out front?) they'd think I'm nutty pulling out the only thing blooming right now in my front yard.

I put them directly into the yard waste bin and then thought better of it. Maybe they'll make a good still life?

Purple has always been difficult for me to photograph so I figured, I'll give it a go and get some practice.



I think in a field of nothing but bluebells, that would be beautiful.
