Since my passion for photography is as an artist, I work primarily in abstracts, although a horizon line does sneak in here & there. As an artist, my photographs are more concerned with the relationship of shape, line, texture, and color than with subject or object. Most of my photographs therefore remain untitled or generically titled in order to preserve the neutrality of the observer as much as

possible. I also specialize in environmental portraits and documentaries (weddings, reunions, birthdays, and other celebrations, gatherings, or events). I have an extensive stock collection for commercial use. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of my photos or want to hire me for a personalized photo shoot. “Wherever one may wander, whatever one may do, one is ever in the presence of one’s own essence, having perfected the eye to see. There is no separateness. Just as the way of social participation may lead in the end to a realization of the All in the individual, so that of exile brings one to the Self in all.”

— Joseph Campbell (lightly edited for gender-neutral language)

Woodland Sanctuary II is coming this September!

Joe Cornish and I are coming together again to reimagine the Woodland Sanctuary exhibition! Our exhibition 3 years ago felt very special, so we were delighted to receive an invitation to exhibit in a new venue (details coming soon).

Although the new exhibition will be a bit smaller, it will be reimagined to include woodland and tree photographs from further afield.

With lots happening with The 617 Club too, It's going to be a very busy summer 😊😅

I hadn’t noticed that chasm but that might be because I’m on the latter side of it. 😆

I hadn’t noticed that chasm but that might be because I’m on the latter side of it. 😆

Digging through some old, undated journal notes, I found this:

"There are many reasons to practice photography, but I think that generally they fall into two broad categories: there are those who photograph primarily as a means of communing or competing with other people: form communities and social orders with fellow camera owners, around photographic styles, subjects, processes or equipment; and there are those who photograph primarily as a means for private exploration, creative expression, and fascination with certain aspects of the world. Between the two there seems to be a chasm of misunderstanding."

Hard to believe it's been a year since I did this. The days of long shadows are upon us.

Whatever else, there is beauty always everywhere.

Whatever else, there is beauty always everywhere.

Believe it or not this photo was taken at 3 AM on the night of a full moon, the moonlight illuminated the fog as it passed through the valley full of trees.

I couldn't help but to pull over while driving near the coast of Oregon and saw this scene through my car window. I knew I did not ever want to forget this incredible view.

It was slightly raining and windy but the moon was shining through the breaks in the clouds, at first it seemed I wouldn't get the shot as the fog kept rolling out just as the moon broke through, the rain was getting on my lens, and the wind was shaking my camera too much for a long exposure, but finally, after wiping my lens between every shot, anchoring down my camera, and patiently waiting for the scene to come together, I was able to capture this dreamy photo of what to me is the perfect depiction of the Pacific Northwest 😍

Such a sucker for abstract art am I. Finding such in the "real" world is totally my jam.

Darkness Falls

or rather, light
fails, or rather, earth
turns, shadows
the sun’s
photons. Whatever.
The dead are still
dead. The living
still carry on
without them. I miss you
here.

That is all.

From earth our bodies take form; to earth they return. Meanwhile, in the incomprehensible nowhere, our spirits are briefly embodied, are briefly identifiably somewhere. As energy can neither be created nor destroyed, the eternal spirit neither rises or falls. The spirit is incomprehensibly everywhere all along.

That is all.
