Early mornings on the Danube Delta. Pelicans moving across the water. That moment when a bird steps into the light and everything you’ve been waiting for comes together.

On our 2026 workshop, our group photographed 75 bird species. But the species count only tells part of the story.

It’s the time spent watching behaviour, finding a clean background and working on the photographs you’ve always wanted to make. It’s sharing those moments with people who understand exactly why you’re excited about a bird on a branch.

With just four photographers, purpose-built boat hides, land-based hides and personal instruction, we give you the time, space and help to make the most of each opportunity.

Autumn on the South Island invites you to photograph both: seasonal colour beneath the peaks, reflections along a shoreline, and details that are easy to walk past when you’re looking into the distance.

On our 2028 workshop, we’ll help you explore those possibilities—when to go wide, when to reach for a longer lens, and how to simplify a scene so your photograph has a clear subject.

You don’t always need to fit the whole landscape into the frame to show how it felt to be there.

There’s something different about spending the night in a place you might otherwise only pass through.

Our 2028 New Zealand workshop includes an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound. We’ll stay aboard, share a meal, and give ourselves time to watch the surroundings change.

For a photographer, that time matters. You can return to a scene, notice something you missed, or simply stay with a view long enough to understand what drew you to it.

And between photographs, there’s the pleasure of being there.

At Milford Sound, you’ll want to look beyond the obvious photograph.

Mountain walls disappearing into the clouds. A waterfall tucked into a crease in the rock. Light finding its way across the water.

Our included Milford Sound cruise brings us into the fiord, where the view keeps changing as we move. We’ll help you look for scale, isolate details, and make thoughtful compositions from a moving boat.

Some landscapes deserve more than one perspective.

On our 2028 New Zealand workshop, we’ll photograph Aoraki / Mount Cook’s alpine landscapes and glacial lakes from the ground, taking time to find foregrounds and build compositions.

Then we’ll take to the air.

Our included scenic flight over the Southern Alps opens up a different world of glaciers, ridgelines, and valleys. It’s a chance to see how the landscape fits together—and come home with photographs that tell more of its story.

After all these years, Mongolia still makes us want to pick up my camera.

We love the challenge of bringing a person and a landscape together in one photograph. Deciding how much space to include. Waiting for an expression. Finding the angle that makes the image say what I felt standing there.

It's always a treat when we go to the Gobi to spend time with friends who have welcomed us for over a decade... they know the images we want to take, they have scouted the dunes for clean lines and no tracks, and are ready and waiting for us when we arrive. We have been here for two workshops this year, and I am excited to share all the action photos we took this year.

Try following a rider through your viewfinder while they draw a bow at a gallop.

You quickly develop an appreciation for their skill. And autofocus.

Our Mongolia workshop includes a private session photographing horseback archers. It’s an opportunity to explore the relationship between action and composition: where the horse sits in your frame, the rider’s posture, and the instant you choose to press the shutter.
