“Sleeping Giants on the mouth of the Mighty Columbia”
The Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon ( yes, the same place where you’ll see the Goonies House, the Short Circuit House and the Kindergarten Cop school where several other popular movies have been filmed ). It is a quaint little historical town that’s rich in charm, and only minutes from both the Oregon and Washinton coasts. We visit quite often and have fallen in love with the area.
The Columbia River Meets the Pacific Ocean by here, with Washington State being on the north side. The mouth of the Columbia is a treacherous 5-mile-wide inlet known as the "Graveyard of the Pacific". Know as one of the most dangerous river entrances in the worlld, renowned for its dangerous, rapidly shifting sandbars and violent, converging currents, this crucial maritime entrance has claimed over 2,000 ships since 1792. It is a major shipping channel, maintained by intensive dredging, that separates Washington's Cape Disappointment from Oregon's Clatsop Spit.

Was scrolling through some pictures and found this one.
I took this four November’s ago on one of our many visits to Whidbey Island, WA. It was taken from the Coupeville Wharf overlooking Penn Cove. I was simply trying to get better focus on my camera but kinda like the way it turned out, so saved it.
Historic, peaceful, quaint little Coupeville, WA is Washington State's second oldest community. Much of its downtown resembles an era of more than a century ago where you will find buildings that were once livery stables and barber shops that have now become wine tasting rooms, ice cream shops or book stores. There are also some lovely restaurants and small shops all along Front Street that make the perfect little local getaway.
