An elopement doesn’t have to be an all-day photo shoot in a pretty place.

Plan the day you actually want to live, bring your people, keep the traditions you love, do something spontaneous if the moment calls for it 😂 and celebrate in whatever way feels like you.

The photos? Let them come from all of that.

Some of the hardest work on a wedding day happens long before anyone gets dressed.

For this one, that meant after-hours scouting, getting my lighting approved, recreating the aquarium’s nighttime conditions at home, and practicing how to work around an environment that couldn’t simply be changed for a photograph.

And somewhere along the way, I even started recognizing the animals and how they moved through the tanks because I knew having them in the photographs mattered to them.

By the time their wedding arrived, I wasn’t figuring the space out, I was ready to photograph the wedding they imagined, exactly where they imagined it. 💙

If I had just one word to describe this moment—serendipity. ✨

I stopped these two in the middle of Post Alley because.. their energy, the framing, the lighting. But it wasn't until after I introduced myself and grabbed a few shots that they told me something that made my jaw drop.
