To honor the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m reposting this recap of my own journey in 2025. I’ll also be making a donation to the American Breast Cancer Foundation today as I deeply support their mission to make screenings more accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to get them.

2025 asked more of me than I expected. I learned how strong a body can be...and how healing creativity is.

When I went in for what I thought was a simple, benign lumpectomy in early July, I was shocked to find out I had stage 1A breast cancer. The diagnosis was fairly straightforward (thankfully) and, after two surgeries and 21 radiation treatments later, I’m heading into 2026 cancer-free. Whew!

Through it all, I kept going. Photographing you and witnessing your stories brought joy, creativity, and connection. You trusted me during a very difficult time and I’ll forever be grateful for that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here’s to a big beautiful 2026!

It's my birthday today! Woo! Instead of showing my mug again, I wanted to share a highlight of 2026...time in London and Ireland (where I snapped a handful of photos for ). My family and I explored the Cotswolds, ran all over London, and dug into Dublin and Galway. It was a dream come true in celebration of my niece graduating high school. What a gift to be able to look back at these. 🎁

This weekend was a big WOW for me! My mom is visiting, so we drove a few hours east to experience the for the first time. From sunrise paddleboarding to the night glow and so much more, it was a unique and educational event. Here are a few things I learned along the way (that I hope will help you plan your own trip):

🎈 You're able to chat with the balloon pilots and ask questions as they set up on the field. I was thrilled to see how many female pilots work in this industry.

🎈 We followed the lead of a kayaking group who organized a sunrise paddle for Saturday morning. It was beautiful and we saw plenty of balloons while we floated, BUT we found out from a local not to count out Sunday morning. You'll see from these photos just how many balloons touched down on Sunday morning. It was glorious to witness and I'm hoping to be on the water for it next year.

🎈 The was exceptional! It coincided with the rally on Saturday morning. We found some treasures (edible and otherwise) there and the vendors were all so nice.

🎈 We rented a cottage in town and took the shuttle to the night glow on Saturday evening. It was so convenient! The town is very walkable overall which was delightful.

🎈 There are three chances for sunrise flights to occur, but the pilots don't decide if they will fly or not until right before sunrise. They make this call based on the forecast for safety's sake. Friday was cancelled this weekend, but flights happened both Saturday and Sunday morning. So, if one day is cancelled, that doesn't mean they all are!

🎈 If you aren't on the water or the field, there is also a bridge across the river near the HQ with phenomenal views. It was on that bridge that I broke out in tears over how pretty it was (typical for me).

🎈 There are a lot of great local restaurants and coffee shops in Prosser, but many of them were "sold out" for the day or didn't have enough staff to manage the increase in visitors to town. Plan ahead for meals and coffees!

Doggy snuggles + golden hour = photographer heaven. Well, this photographer at least. 😉🐶📷

PS: The pup on the left is my little girl's littermate! When we adopted Daisy, we also met a handful of lovely friends who adopted her littermates at the same time. I don't know how we would've gotten through the pandemic without our doggy community! 💕

Fall mini sessions started this weekend and they couldn't have been dreamier! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to document your story no matter the season of life you're in. And on that note, my books are full through the end of the year! You're all the best.

A sneak peek from a sweet senior session over the weekend! I'm in mild disbelief that there are still flowers out there blooming, and yet the display garden by at Volunteer Park is a lovely reminder that it is still summer! Have you visited this garden before? It's a favorite for me!

One thing I hear a lot from seniors is that they’re not comfortable in front of the camera. And then… they proceed to absolutely nail it.

Sometimes you don’t need to know what to do in front of the camera. You just need a little direction, some room to relax, and permission to be yourself.
