I first read this quote by Anne Lamott five years ago, when I was deep into my own mental health journey:

“Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.”

It struck a chord with me. I've been a lifelong people-pleaser, putting everyone else's needs before my own. I was constantly chasing success instead of being true to myself and letting my own light shine.

Pretty soon after, I asked to design and tattoo a piece of art that would provide a constant reminder of that. And this past weekend, I was able to visit the lighthouse that served as the visual inspiration for my tattoo: the Grays Harbor Lighthouse.

I'm still a work-in-progress and I'm grateful for how far I've come. Thank you, .

Happy National Dog Day to every dog who was rescued, every dog who rescued their person right back, and every person who knows that “just a dog” is never just a dog. This baby healed us during the pandemic and continues to bring such light into our lives. How did I ever go this long without a dog? Even if she refuses to let us clip her nails, she is loved. 😉🥰

What is it like to work with lil ole me, you ask? Well...

✨ I'm going to be pretty excited to get to know you (or to catch up!).
📷 There will be light posing direction and we'll watch the magic happen.
✨ I'll be a bit silly and you might join in.
🌎 I'm definitely going to ask you if you like to travel.
📷 It’s probably more relaxed than you think.
✨ It'll be a memory within itself...and lots of fun.
..and yep, we’ll get the “everyone look at the camera” photos, too!
