District 17 Champions!

Abington Blue's 12-Year-Old All-Stars captured the 2026 District 17 Majors Championship Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Moosic in front of a packed crowd at the Ackerly Fairgrounds. The win sends Abington to next week's Section 5 Tournament, where they'll represent District 17.

Outstanding pitching set the tone throughout the championship game, with every run at a premium. Evan Ross turned in another dominant performance on the mound, striking out seven over 5â…” innings while allowing just two unearned runs. Max Shursky retired the final batter to secure the championship, while Abington's defense once again played an error-free game. The biggest defensive play came in the sixth inning when Carson Walsh started a pivotal double play at shortstop, helping halt Moosic's final rally and preserve the lead.

Abington broke through in the second inning when Max Shursky lined an RBI double to center field before Brad McDonald followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. After Moosic battled back to tie the game in the fourth, the Blue All-Stars answered in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the sixth. Caleb Engerman was hit by a pitch, advanced into scoring position, and raced home on a wild pitch to score the championship-winning run.

Declan Grady led the offense with two hits, while Shursky and McDonald each drove in a run. Owen Walsh worked a key walk and scored, and Engerman's aggressive baserunning proved to be the difference in a championship game that showcased outstanding baseball from both teams.

Saturday's victory marked the final game for this All-Star team at Jim Hatton Field, making the celebration on their home field even more meaningful. Congratulations to our 2026 District 17 Majors Champions!
