I honestly wouldn’t be the person I am today without Scranton Prep. This is where I first picked up a camera, where I fell in love with photography. To be invited back years later, not as a student but as a proud Prep alum capturing the very essence of this school, has been one of the greatest honors of my photography career.
This project has been my little secret for months now, and seeing the new website finally launch today was so surreal. Clicking through the pages felt like stepping right back into my Prep days, with the same energy and Prep spirit that shaped who I am. I’m so grateful to Jeanine Pavuk, Virginia Farrell, and Michelle Fellins for trusting me with this wonderful opportunity.
What made it even more meaningful was the chance to reconnect with the faculty and staff who poured so much into me, and to meet the students who are carrying forward that same Prep tradition today. Even after graduating many years ago, while working on this project, and not knowing a single student—I felt so welcomed in like I never even left. It reminded me of the home that Prep has always been for me, and I truly felt like I still belonged. That sense of belonging to my Prep Family has never left.
My Jesuit Education has always been at the heart of what I do now as a photographer. The latin phrase ad altiora natus—born for higher things—was something I didn’t just see in the halls everyday at Prep, but carried with me long after graduation. It taught me to aim higher in everything I do, to pursue my passion with purpose, and to remember that it’s not just about me. Prep formed me into a being a man for others, and even now, with my photography career, I see my wedding work as a way of giving back to my clients, documenting moments and stories that will live on long past me. Being part of this full-circle moment was truly a privilege, one that reminded me just how much my Prep community has given me, and continues to give.
