One of my absolute favorite places in the world was practically in my own backyard growing up. I lived sixteen miles from Letchworth State Park which sits on the border of Wyoming County and Livingston County, NY. There's never a bad time to visit & winter is proof of that.

I recently went back with my great friend and fellow photographer Timothy New and he got to experience it for the first time. I can't wait to see the photos he took. These are just some of mine and I hope you enjoy them.

Sometimes things work out better than you initially thought they would. I intended to get a mill and waterfall in Youngstown, Ohio. Well, it was WAY too busy and on top of that I forgot to pack my ND filter which allows for daytime long exposures.

Instead, I got a unique (and small) suspension bridge. Built in the late 1890s, it's an eyebar design rather than utilizing cables. Plus it's very photogenic. I hope you will agree.

When the wife is away the husband photography will go on a mini road trip to Burgess Falls near Cookeville, Tenn.

It's not the easiest waterfalls to capture as the best view I could see of it was from the narrow path along the ridge. Still, I'm happy with what I got. Plus there were some nice cascades prior to the falls that I got. I initially thought I'd forgotten to bring the plate that connects my camera to my tripod, so the first couple shots of the cascades I did my best to stead my camera on a rock. Then I remembered I had the piece in the trunk of my vehicle. I went back, got some photos of the falls then went back to the cascades where I got some much better shots.

Then, on the way down, it was kind of foggy and I drove past a tiny cemetery in Jackson County, Tenn. I had to turn around quickly and grab a couple shots. I really like how they turned out.

For 20 photos a session is $100 and it's an additional $10 for every 5 photos after that.

I'm discovering that Northeast Ohio has some fantastic waterfalls. I took in Brandywine Falls the last time I passed through and this time my wife and I took in Great Falls at Tinker Creek. There was a lot of mist coming off the falls so getting photos that didn't have little water spots in them was a challenge. However, I think these came out very well. There's one that I even get kind of a fantasy vibe from.

In all the years I've been traveling between New York State and Kentucky, I never realized that this waterfall is along my route. Apparently there are several more near this one. One day, when I have the time, I'll check those ones out too. Until then, here's a dozen of Brandywine Falls. Each is a little bit different though.
