There is a very special place in Connie's and my heart for music. It was because of the school music program in our school in 5th grade when we first met and started our lifetime together. Music continued to play an important part of our lives throughout school with being very involved in band, marching band, orchestra, jazz band and even theater. So we both know about the joy, pride and sense of belonging music can bring to children.

It was our honor to create a Masters Touch painting of master chef and restauranteur Mark and Nikki Tarbell, which was unveiled at the Phoenix Heart Ball a few months ago. Mark is well known throughout the valley, and the country, for his culinary artistry. Mark's restaurants includes Tarbells, T's Wine Bar, The Wine Store, and The Tavern at Sky Harbor. He has also appeared on numerous programs including winning Iron Chef America, Good Morning America, Plate and Pour plus many others, and is a 2 time inductee into the Arizona Hall of Culinary Fame.

Mark and Nikki are well-known for their tremendous support of charities for many years, and as honorary chairs of the 2022 Heart Ball they helped bring an important awareness to heart disease.

It was a true pleasure creating a portrait for this wonderful couple.

Connie and I believe very strongly in the ability of a portrait to show the essence of the persons the portrait is about and their relationship.

Whenever I look at a portrait of my family that we have displayed in our home, I see a reflection of my dreams I have had, and continue to have, for myself, my wife, and our sons. I feel all of the emotions of what my family means to me, in a very powerful, non-verbal way. I guess this is why Connie and I feel so strongly about what we do as portrait artists. We know many families feel the same way we do when they see a portrait of their own family.

In celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary, we created a portrait of us to not only celebrate these wonderful 40 years that we are so grateful to have together, but also as a legacy portrait that one day our sons will inherit, and their children as well after that so that they know a little bit about their grandparents.

We got an early start this morning so that we could be at our studio for a 7:40AM live interview with Fox News 10 here in Phoenix. It's not easy doing an interview wearing masks, but we are so grateful that Fox News came by to help us spread the word in regards to our portrait gift to the amazing Nurses here in the valley.

Music and Dance hold a very special place in our hearts and our lives. It was because of music that Connie and I first met in the elementary school band. Connie played the clarinet and I played the trumpet. A few years later we were chosen to do a duet of Romeo and Juliet in the orchestra performance, and the rest as they say is history ❤️❤️❤️.

Connie also was a ballet/tap/jazz dance instructor for 25 years, teaching nearly 1,000 students the art of dance, as well a dance major in college.

It is because of our love of the Arts that Connie and I have decided to create a very special project called Aspiring Ballerinas and Musicians that will help raise funds for Ballet Arizona and Phoenix Symphony, one of the best Ballet companies and Symphonies in the United States.
