I chose the first image for vulnerability, the person I’ve seen unfold. The second because it captures your pure soul. The third for the confidence you radiate so much self power. The fourth for your beauty inside and out.
They all celebrate a part of you. We’ve laughed we’ve cried we’ve danced and we’re still creating magic.

Your birthday marks 10 years of us creating together and I have loved every moment of you. You are a magnificent human being G.

Inside the garage door natural light. With a little black tent I made with Vflats. I wanted the depth but I needed a buffer so I hung a piece of black chiffon to soften the background.

Yes some images beg to be BW This is a battle I’ve never won. I love both for different reasons and I’ve always provided both for that reason.

When shoot day arrived with the new a7R6 I prayed so hard for cloud cover. Arizona laughed. Instead we got a heat wave in early April. Legit 100° no breeze no clouds no shade.

My model is the most incredible talent to work with I love working with you we were sweating but loving every minute of it.

We put a scrim on light stands to diffuse the light on her, to diffuse the hash light behind her I took a backdrop stand and hung a layer of chiffon which we blew with a leaf blower.

This was my shoot for the a7R6 release and they made that short film this day. I’m still pinching myself because it was one of the best experiences of my career.

Because this week I am being announced as a Sony Artisan of imagery.

I recorded this video nine times and it doesn’t matter how many times I write this post I struggle to articulate my gratitude because frankly the opportunity to work with this incredible team is beyond anything I could’ve asked for.

Like I said, I’m not going to say I can’t believe it because here I am and I do ask for these big opportunities so instead I will say thank you and I will honor it.

There have been so many challenges in the evolution of this industry, but the one thing that always brings me back is falling in love with this craft.

I am shooting again. I am creating again and I can feel that magic.

Give me a Contact Sheet or a Print and I’ll sit and be mesmerized. I watch my printer the same way I watched a print develop in the dark room, it feels the same to me (film photographers won’t agree) but for me it’s pure creation. Deep in my cells it sparks this love of my craft it awakens a memory for me of film and when this craft was so simple and so beautiful. Even shooting digital I still make contacts just so I can feel that feeling.
