Well, we had a good run, but we are officially a member of the COVID community now. We’re still waiting on all of our tests, but I’ve spent the morning contacting people we’ve been around and canceling plans. I’m so grateful none of us have any symptoms yet (thank goodness for the vaccine!!) but it’s still scary and stressful. I’ve been so privileged to get to know this amazing family over the past several football seasons. I count this beautiful Mama as one of my closest friends, and all 3 of these kids are funny, polite, hard workers, and all-around wonderful people. I loved every second of this session!

This time of year always seems a bit weird to me. It’s still too hot to do much outside, but the pool is getting too cold to swim in. I can feel the holidays coming, but they’re still too far away to make any solid plans. Ben is getting settled into school, but it still seems like mornings are chaos and not as well organized as I know they will be later in the year. Anyway, here’s to all the other mamas out there feeling the same feelings, and dealing with this transition period as best as we can.

“Community over competition” is something I hear in my local photography circles all the time, but rarely do 2 people embody this mantra more than .studio (who arranged 2 glorious shoots in Flagstaff for us and styled all of our models) and . If I was following all of the photography business advice I’ve seen over the years, I’d never post these. They’re a bit weird, not my usual editing style, and don’t fit neatly into any of the session types I typically do. But I am a bit weird and got into photography to be creative, so screw the “usual advice”. I’m so happy that .closeups and I got hooked up for a collaboration, and I can’t wait to do it again!

So…. We we were in Alaska last week! I’m not quite sure what to say other than this vacation fit our personalities perfectly. The weather was stellar, almost everywhere we went there were only a few other people around, and we could almost always see, smell, and hear the ocean. It was pure bliss.
