This Arizona family session started with a mood board and a simple idea: celebrate baby boy turning one with a picnic by the water.

Mom sent me her inspiration, I helped with outfits, found a little lakeside spot, and the rest came together so naturally. Chamomile flowers, a checkered blanket, piles of fruit, and a one-year-old who happily stole the show. 🍓

I think that’s what I loved most about this session. It wasn’t complicated. Just a family slowing down for an evening together and celebrating a really sweet milestone.

Sometimes simple really is the most beautiful.

Friendly reminder that you don’t need a ring, a proposal, or an anniversary to take photos with your favorite person. ♡

When Olivia reached out, she told me she wanted photos that felt like them. No fancy outfits. No stiff poses. No accidentally-looking-like-engagement-photos.

Just a normal summer evening together.

So we threw steaks on the grill, hung out by the pool, discovered a fake coyote floating in the water, and called it a photoshoot.

10/10 recommend documenting your relationship before there’s a milestone attached to it. ♡

This Arizona mom and I worked together to create a session that felt like THEM. We wanted it to feel like a laid back 90s summer. You know…the ones where we hung out with our friends until the sun went down?

So naturally, we decided they should bring their favorite meal along with toys that the kids were really into right now. And we had so much fun.

Here’s what mom had to say about her session with me:
